Description
Nanako is a young girl who unexpectedly acquires superpowers while simultaneously losing all memories of her past, a direct consequence of a scientific experiment that went wrong. She is found by Tomoshige Yotsuya, a high school student with ambitions of world conquest who styles himself as a mad scientist, and his friend Iidabashi. Yotsuya convinces Nanako to join his detective agency by promising to help her recover her lost memories, though his true intention is to exploit her abilities for personal gain and to further his own schemes. Nanako innocently trusts him and agrees, becoming the agency's primary operative.
Her personality is defined by a marked shyness and a naive, trusting nature. She is also cheerful and possesses a natural sunny disposition that helps her endure the many dangerous and bizarre missions she is thrust into. She is generally gentle and good-hearted, but she can be pushed to her limits when provoked. Despite her timidity, she demonstrates intelligence and resourcefulness as she navigates the mysteries and threats that arise.
Nanako's core motivation is the recovery of her lost identity and memories, which is the reason she stays with Yotsuya and participates in his agency. Her role in the story is that of the central protagonist and the primary wielder of superhuman abilities. She is used by Yotsuya as a superheroine, often referred to as SuperGirl, to solve cases, fight crime, and handle any odd job that comes their way. She authentically believes she is working for a just cause, unaware of the extent of Yotsuya's self-serving agenda.
Her key relationships are with Yotsuya and Iidabashi, who act as her handlers and housemates. She develops a romantic crush on Yotsuya, which adds a layer of emotional vulnerability to her dynamic with him. Throughout the series, Nanako undergoes various peculiar experiences as a hero. At one point, she turns into a boy named Nanano, and at another, her powers completely disappear for a period. Despite these strange setbacks and the manipulation she faces, her resilient and optimistic nature allows her to overcome each incident and continue forward.
Nanako possesses a range of extraordinary abilities. She can fly under her own power and has superhuman strength, which she uses in combat and to protect others. She also has the ability to grow to giant size. Beyond these primary powers, she is noted to excel at physical activities and sports, and her overall superhuman capabilities make her a formidable force. She is given a distinctive costume to wear when acting as a superheroine.
