Description
Goddado, transformed into Tekkaman Axe, serves as a significant antagonist in the narrative. Before his transformation, Goddado was the martial arts instructor for the protagonist and his brother, Shinya, and also possessed skills as an electronics technician. This background establishes a deep, pre-existing connection to the central conflict, as he was not merely a soldier but a mentor and a close family friend.
As Tekkaman Axe, his personality is shaped by his past loyalties and his current servitude to the alien Radam. Despite being an enemy, he retains a sense of regret for the fate that forces his former students to battle each other. He displays a degree of honor in combat, at one point agreeing to restrict a fight to pure hand-to-hand techniques without using his most powerful attacks. His primary motivation is absolute loyalty to Tekkaman Evil, his other former pupil. This loyalty is twofold: it stems from a lifetime of shared history and from a direct request made by the protagonist before the events of the series, asking Goddado to protect Shinya. Consequently, he diligently fights as a commander of the Radam forces on Earth, while also attempting to persuade the protagonist to abandon his resistance and return to their side.
In the story, Axe is a powerful frontline warrior who battles the protagonist on multiple occasions. His martial arts mastery, combined with his Tekkaman powers, makes him a formidable opponent capable of driving the hero into a corner. His most notable confrontation occurs in a decisive duel where he creates a contained arena using a barrier generated by a Radam tree to prevent outside interference. During this fight, he demonstrates his unique combat style, which relies heavily on his signature weapon, a large axe. This Tek Axe serves as both a melee weapon and a tool for long-range attacks, allowing him to fire red energy blasts or throw the empowered axe to create a massive explosion.
Key relationships define him. His bond with both brothers is the core of his character arc. He is shown to have been a respected teacher who was well aware of the emotional history between them. In battle, he expresses admiration for his former student's strength, even as he fights to kill him. His development differs from other Tekkamen; he never regains his human consciousness before his death, remaining loyal to the Radam and to Tekkaman Evil until the very end. In his final moments, after being mortally wounded, he attempts a desperate self-destruct sequence with his ultimate attack, the Voltekka, to prevent his crystal from being captured, disintegrating in the resulting explosion. His notable abilities include being the only Tekkaman in the series who can channel fermion particles into his weapon, enhancing its power, and his use of the Voltekka, which he can employ in close-range suicidal blasts as well as standard long-range bombardment.
