Shimaka's career spanned several decades, with numerous roles in television animation, original video animations, and films. Beyond animation, Shimaka contributed significantly to the dubbing of Western live-action and animated productions into Japanese. His dubbing credits include providing the Japanese voice for characters such as Biff Tannen in Back to the Future, Frank the Desk Clerk in ER, and various figures in the James Bond film series. In his later years, he also worked as a lecturer at Tokyo Announce Gakuin and taught at his own private school.
