Description
Fumio Fukamachi is the father of Sho Fukamachi, the primary protagonist who bonds with the Guyver unit. He is introduced as a widower who has raised his son alone since Sho was approximately three years old following the death of his wife. Fumio works diligently as a salaryman, a background detail that establishes him as a hardworking and devoted parent who strives to provide for his family despite the emotional weight of his loss. The relationship between father and son is depicted as close and mutually supportive, with Sho consciously avoiding causing trouble or additional burdens in an effort to protect his father from further grief.

Within the narrative, Fumio serves a tragic role that becomes a pivotal turning point for the main character. His personal history is largely ordinary and unconnected to the central conflict with the Chronos Corporation until he is directly targeted by the organization. Chronos abducts Fumio and takes him hostage at their Mount Minakami base, intending to exploit his connection to Sho. While in captivity, the Chronos scientist Dr. Hamilcar Barcas forcibly subjects Fumio to Zoanoid processing, transforming him into a specialized hyper-zoanoid known as Enzyme II, also referred to as the Guyver-Killer. This creature is specifically designed to destroy Guyver armor, possessing corrosive abilities and clawed tentacles that can dissolve the bio-boosted protective layer. Fumio retains no control over his actions in this form, as Dr. Barcas maintains telepathic dominance over his mind.

The confrontation between father and son forms the emotional core of Fumio's role in the series. Sho infiltrates the Chronos base and successfully rescues his father, initially unaware that Fumio has been transformed. Once they have escaped to the exterior, Barcas remotely activates the Enzyme II transformation, and Fumio attacks Sho with lethal force. Sho, recognizing his father within the monstrous creature, refuses to fight back effectively, a hesitation that demonstrates his deep love and loyalty despite the dire circumstances. Controlled by Barcas's telepathy, Enzyme II crushes the Guyver armor's head and tears out part of its brain module, inflicting near-fatal damage on Sho. At this critical moment, the Guyver unit itself activates an autonomous self-defense mode, overriding Sho's incapacitated will. The armor severs Enzyme II's limbs and destroys the creature with a point-blank Mega-Smasher, a devastating energy weapon.

In the final moments before his death, Fumio briefly regains consciousness and recognizes his son, screaming Sho's name as the Mega-Smasher's beam engulfs him. This tragic event profoundly traumatizes Sho, who represses the memory of killing his father and subsequently becomes unable to summon the Guyver armor. The psychological block represents the deep psychological wound caused by this patricidal act, regardless of the lack of conscious intent. Sho only regains his ability to bio-boost after a later encounter with the renegade Zoanoid Aptom forces him to confront the truth about his father's fate, a process that allows him to come to terms with the loss and find the resolve to continue the fight against Chronos.

Fumio Fukamachi's background and personality are explored primarily through his bond with his son, rather than through extensive independent development. He functions as an ordinary man caught in extraordinary and horrific circumstances, his transformation into a weapon designed to kill his own child representing one of the most cruel manipulations perpetrated by Chronos. Through his capture and death, Fumio becomes the catalyst for Sho's psychological growth and his deepening commitment to the battle against the corporation that destroyed his family. As Enzyme II, Fumio possesses enhanced physical strength, corrosive abilities capable of dissolving the Guyver's bio-boosted armor, and clawed tentacles used as weapons, all of which make him one of the most dangerous adversaries Sho ever faces, precisely because of the emotional cost of fighting him.
