Pops Racer, known in the original Japanese version as Daisuke Mifune, is the father of the title character in the anime Speed Racer and the patriarch of the family's racing enterprise. His background is marked by an unusual career change: before becoming an automotive engineer, he was a champion professional wrestler who competed under the name Dragon Racer and fought on the West Side Grunters and Groaners circuit. He eventually left that world behind and pursued a career in car design and construction.
