Chim Chim is the pet chimpanzee of the Racer family and serves as the constant companion to Speed Racer’s younger brother, Spritle Racer. True to his species, his name is a simple play on the word chimpanzee. In the original Japanese version of the series, the character was known as Sanpei.
Chim Chim and Spritle are portrayed as an inseparable and mischievous duo.
