Description
E.M. Pino is a miniature anti-bot machine created by the former Demon King, Ziggy, serving as his personal property. Her latest maintenance occurred in X492, performed by Weisz Steiner. Ziggy dispatched her to the planet Norma, stranded fifty years in the past, perpetually in X442, after a Chronophage consumed its time. Sibir, a crime boss, and his gang discovered her briefcase, aiming to exploit her electromagnetic pulse functions for profit. During her captivity, Pino endured significant abuse and cruelty. After failing to dance for Sibir's entertainment, her left leg was torn off and replaced with a screw. Sibir forcibly erased her memories of Ziggy, compelling her to recognize him as her new master, an action documented on her B-Cube terminal.
Approximately one week after her memory erasure, Weisz Steiner stole Pino in her briefcase, mistaking it for money. At an underground bar on Norma, Shiki Granbell accidentally triggered the briefcase open during an argument with Weisz. Her involuntary electromagnetic pulse activated, shorting out Shiki's Satan Gravity Ether Gear and the bar's lighting. Initially mistaking Shiki's voice for her master's, she introduced herself before realizing the error. Questioned about her master by Weisz, her damaged memory reloaded, recalling Sibir as master. Overcome by fear of his wrath, she fled back to Sibir's hideout and meekly participated in his plan to take over the city.
Shiki later rescued Pino after witnessing Sibir's cruelty towards robots, including her. Inspired by this act, she disabled the self-destruct mechanism of Sibir's Knight Gear, saving Shiki and reciprocating his friendship. She joined Shiki's crew aboard the Edens Zero, becoming an integral member designated the "Light of Edens," representing the "next generation" of androids following the Four Shining Stars.
Pino generates electromagnetic pulses that disrupt electronics and cancel active Ether Gear abilities. Initially indiscriminate, her EMP activates involuntarily during emotional distress. Post-training, she gains precise control, allowing her to selectively target specific electronics or Ether Gears without widespread disruption. She later achieves an Overdrive state, transforming her appearance with a black dress and mechanical wing attachments, enhancing her capabilities.
As a machine, she possesses advanced analytical functions, including structural composition analysis of locations or individuals, trajectory calculation for projectiles, facial recognition, and video recording or broadcasting via her optical sensors. She projects holographic screens to share magnified views.
Her appearance evolves throughout her journey. Initially, she wears a small blue and green dress with a white collar, fairy-like wings, and shoes, sporting a pink helmet resembling a bob-cut hairstyle. After leaving Norma, she adopts a magenta sleeveless dress with a pink heart emblem. By X495, her attire shifts to a dark sweater with light trim and collar, dark shoes, and a bunny backpack. Her antennae darken and lose inner ovals, while her eyes appear sharper. Her digital avatar in virtual worlds resembles a young human girl with rabbit-like ears and a heart-decorated necktie.
Pino develops emotionally over time. Initially indifferent and laid-back, she gradually expresses fear, defensiveness, and disobedience, particularly when erased memories of Ziggy surface. She acknowledges limitations, like an inability to dance. She forms strong bonds with the Edens Zero crew, displaying worry for their safety and actively participating in missions. Her core aspiration is to someday become human.
This wish culminates during encounters with Mother, the cosmic entity. Mother offers to reincarnate Pino as the daughter of Shiki and Rebecca in Universe Zero. Pino declines, unwilling to replace the soul of the unborn child. Mother respects this decision and restores Pino to her android body. In an abstract fulfillment of her wish, a human version of Pino is later born on Earth as the sister of Rebecca's counterpart.
