Description
Alma Tandōji is the main protagonist of the anime film Sacred Seven: Shirogane no Tsubasa, which continues the story of the television series. He is a seventeen-year-old high school student with light blue eyes and brown hair that reaches his neck, standing approximately 183 centimeters (six feet) tall. He was born with a unique power known as the Sacred Seven, which he inherited from his mother due to her exposure to that force.
Several years before the main events of the story, Alma lost control of his abilities during a confrontation with bullies, causing an incident in which many people were hurt. The bullies had thrown a special crystal that belonged to his mother into a river, a crystal which had previously helped keep his powers suppressed. After this traumatic event, Alma began living a solitary and isolated life, deliberately keeping others at a distance out of a deep-seated fear of harming them with his uncontrollable power. This fear led him to develop a habit of searching for rocks, as he continued to look for his mother's lost crystal in the river where it had been discarded. He also became a member of his school's Geology Club.
Alma's personality is initially defined by his reticence and social withdrawal. Before meeting Ruri Aiba, he was largely uncommunicative, often speaking only a few words at a time. A verbal tic of his is the phrase "for now," which is thought to reflect his hesitancy and fear of forming close bonds, stemming from the pain of having hurt others in the past. His life changes dramatically when Ruri, a representative of the Aiba Foundation, approaches him for help in fighting creatures called Dark Stones. Although he initially refuses, he is eventually compelled to act when his city is attacked. Ruri possesses the unique ability to insert a special Lightstone into Alma, allowing him to finally gain control over his immense Sacred Seven powers and transform into a powerful warrior. Through her support, he begins to change, becoming more talkative and open, especially towards Ruri and his childhood friend, Wakana Ito.
In the film, Alma's role is to continue his fight against the Dark Stones. His primary motivation is to protect others, using the power he once feared for the sake of good. A key relationship in his life is with Ruri Aiba, for whom he develops strong romantic feelings as she is the one who helped him find his true purpose and control his abilities. Another important relationship is with Wakana Ito, a childhood friend who was never afraid of him and consistently encouraged him, helping him to gradually find his place among his classmates. His trust is also tested in his dealings with other characters like Kenmi, whom he initially trusts because Ruri does, but later comes to question.
Alma's notable abilities are extensive. He has access to all seven Sacred Seven powers and is stated to have the highest level of this power, even surpassing others like Kijima. He has two primary forms, Lightstone I and Lightstone II. In his Lightstone I form, Ruri must activate his abilities, granting him a variety of weapons and skills including an armored gauntlet that can fire energy beams, a flying board for aerial combat, a precision-controlled sword, the ability to pass through solid matter, enhanced running speed, and high-speed flight. In his more advanced Lightstone II form, Alma no longer requires Ruri's direct assistance to maintain control, making him more powerful, faster, and capable of abilities like freezing large amounts of water, summoning a powerful drill weapon, and managing his own energy to restrain enemies. When he loses control or Ruri is not present to stabilize him, he can transform into a berserk Dark Stone form, characterized by a horn growing from his forehead and his body being encased in a red-violet armor, during which he cannot control his actions and poses a great danger to everyone around him.
