Miezela Celestella is the propaganda minister of the Great Gamilas Empire in Star Blazers 2199. She hails from the planet Jirel and belongs to the telepathic Jirel race. As a child, she and her sister Mirenel Linke were victims of persecution and ultimately imprisoned on Prison Planet 17. They were personally freed by Abelt Dessler, the leader of the Gamilas Empire, an act that inspired deep loyalty in Celestella. After Mirenel's death, Celestella became the last surviving Jirel not in hiding. She serves as Dessler's aide, delivering military reports, managing his intelligence service, and overseeing propaganda efforts to shape public perception within the empire. She is the only non-Gamilas alien in Dessler's inner circle. Her personality is marked by cunning, devotion, and a sharp intellect; she is adept at psychological warfare and information control. In the story, she plays a key role in supporting Dessler's ambitions, including devising a plan to use her sister's telepathic abilities to infiltrate the Yamato's systems. That plan ultimately failed and led to Mirenel's death. Celestella's own telepathic abilities allow her to read thoughts and project mental energy, though she relies more on manipulation and strategy. Throughout the series, she remains steadfastly loyal to Dessler, even as the empire faces turmoil. Her appearance is that of a purple-skinned humanoid with purple hair, red eyes, and pointed ears, often described with nicknames such as the Witch or the Vixen. Her development is centered on her dedication to Dessler and the loss of her sister, which deepens her resolve but does not alter her core allegiance.
