TV-Series
Description
Orochimaru is the primary recurring villain of the anime, presented as a comical reinterpretation of the original Naruto antagonist. He is a missing-nin from Konohagakure, the founder of Otogakure, and one of the Legendary Sannin, the trio completed by Jiraiya and Tsunade. In this spin-off, he appears in his original form, with ashen skin and long black hair, and his imposing presence is preserved even as the situations around him become absurd.

His background follows the main series. He was once a gifted ninja of the Leaf Village trained by the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, alongside his two future comrades. He later abandoned the village, became a rogue ninja, and established his own hidden village, Otogakure. Within this series, he is treated as a genuine threat, and Jiraiya in particular keeps a watch over his movements.

The spin-off exaggerates his sinister qualities for comedy. He speaks in a refined, theatrical manner and carries himself with the self-importance of a great villain, yet his plans frequently collapse through their own absurdity or through the interference of Rock Lee and his friends. He is notably persistent, a trait the show highlights directly; one episode title even declares that Orochimaru is a very persistent man. Another episode jokes about his blood type and zodiac sign as a way of explaining his stubborn nature.

His motivations remain tied to his ambitious personality. He continues to scheme against Konoha and attempts to undermine the village, but in this lighter setting his efforts mostly serve as comic foils. In one episode he plans an attack, only to be stopped by the main characters; in another, he is spotted behaving suspiciously, and it turns out he simply came to the Leaf Village for a relaxing visit to the hot springs.

In the story, Orochimaru functions as a recurring antagonist who repeatedly tries to invade or sabotage the village, with each attempt ending in defeat or embarrassment. He often works together with his aide Kabuto Yakushi, and the two attempt to sneak into the village during a guard duty episode. At one point, he summons the giant snake Manda to swallow Tsunade, Naruto, and Guy whole. Confrontations with him become comedic set pieces, with Lee and his team stepping in to defend their home.

His most important relationship is with Kabuto, his loyal right-hand man, who accompanies him on his schemes. He also has a complicated history with his former teammates Jiraiya and Tsunade, and Tsunade in particular becomes a target of his attacks. His clashes with Lee, Guy, Naruto, and other Leaf ninja form the basis of several episodes.

Orochimaru does not undergo meaningful development in this series; he remains an unchanging, comically persistent menace. His personality and role stay consistent throughout, with humor derived from the contrast between his serious villainy and the ridiculous circumstances he finds himself in.

He is still presented as one of the most powerful ninja alive, as befits a member of the Legendary Sannin. The spin-off showcases his snake-based techniques and his ability to summon the giant serpent Manda, and his persistence often acts as his most effective trait, since he keeps returning no matter how many times he is thwarted.
