TV-Series
Description
Horizon Ariadust, also known by the designation P-01s, is the central female character of the story. She is an automaton who works as a clerk at the Blue Thunder, a bakery and light eatery located on the flying ship Musashi. Her physical appearance is that of a young woman with long, silvery-white hair and blue eyes. As an automaton, her body is primarily composed of mechanical parts covered with a substance that mimics human skin, though certain areas like her shoulders, arms, and fingers feature black-coated parts that house sensitive drive components. Due to inefficient heat dissipation, her skin is prone to sweating. The sensory devices on the sides of her head resemble headphones. She wears a distinctive outfit that combines elements of an apron and a sweater.

Her background is central to the plot. She was originally a human girl and the childhood friend of Toori Aoi and his sister Kimi. Ten years before the main events, she suffered a fatal injury in a carriage accident. To save her, her father, Lord Motonobu Matsudaira of Mikawa, transferred her soul into an automaton body. As part of a plan to avert an impending apocalypse, he also extracted her emotions and sealed them within nine Mortal Sin Armaments. The ninth and most important of these, representing envy and called the Entirety of Yearning, was integrated into her own body as a unifying operating system. As a result, this version of Horizon, known as P-01s, had no memories of her past life and was incapable of feeling or expressing emotions. She appeared on the Musashi one day without any memory prior to that moment and was taken in by the owner of the Blue Thunder.

In terms of personality, as an automaton, Horizon initially displays no facial expressions and acts on flawless logical thinking. She is not sociable but is a diligent and kind person at heart. She has a few quiet habits, such as watering the brown algae in the sewers and cleaning the gravestones in the nearby cemetery. She is often blunt and can be physically harsh with Toori, which stems from her logical programming deeming his antics worthy of annoyance. This dynamic mirrors the relationship she had with him as a human. Despite her lack of emotion, she cares for him and demonstrates a strong will to live and make her own choices. Over time, as she reclaims her emotions through the Mortal Sin Armaments, she begins to show basic feelings, with crying being her first display.

Her role in the story is multi-faceted. She is the legal heir to the now-destroyed Mikawa and is named the Viceroy of Musashi alongside Toori. As the vessel for the ninth Mortal Sin Armament, she is the key to controlling all the others, making her a target for various world powers. In the second season, as the Musashi travels to England, her role deepens. She participates in a school festival date with Toori to help decide the future course of the Musashi. Her resolve solidifies; she decides that she will gather all the Mortal Sin Armaments to reclaim her lost emotions. During a battle at sea against Tres Espana, she actively wields the Mortal Sin Armaments of Grief and Greed in combat, demonstrating her growing agency and power as she helps secure a decisive victory. Through this action, she affirms her desire to use her own strong will, or greed, to build a better world with Toori.

Key relationships define her journey. Her bond with Toori Aoi is the most significant. He was her childhood friend and is the one who publicly declares his love for her, leads the mission to rescue her from imprisonment, and vows to help her recover her emotions by obtaining all the Mortal Sin Armaments, a quest he calls "conquering the world". Her father, Motonobu Matsudaira, is a complex figure whose actions, though driven by a desire to save the world, stripped her of her humanity and emotions. She also forms a friendship with Masazumi Honda, a fellow student and the student council vice president. The shopkeeper of the Blue Thunder acts as a kind caretaker who gave her a home and a job.

Her development throughout the series is the core of her character arc. She begins as a completely emotionless automaton with no past. After the revelation of her identity and her rescue, she gains her first reclaimed emotion, sadness, which causes her to cry for the first time in her current form. In the second season, she recovers a second emotion, greed or strong desire, solidifying her own wishes and motivations. This marks a crucial step from being a passive tool to an active agent in shaping her own destiny.

Notable abilities are intrinsically linked to her nature as the core of the Mortal Sin Armaments. She is the bearer of the Entirety of Yearning, which acts as the operating system for all nine armaments. Her primary ability, Soul Activation, allows her to link a Mortal Sin Armament to her soul. This not only allows her to activate the armament's ultimate power but also reintegrates the piece of her original soul housed within that armament back into herself, slowly restoring her emotions and memories. She is capable of using all of the other eight Mortal Sin Armaments. Furthermore, she demonstrated the ability to create a hidden, compressed dimensional pocket near her body for storage, which she developed while in a long sleep state to upgrade her systems.
