Description
Kudryavka Nōmi, commonly called Kud, is a girl of mixed heritage with a quarter Japanese and three-quarters Russian background. Her full Russian name is Kudryavka Anatolyevna Strugatskaya. She grew up traveling the world due to her family’s circumstances and comes from a small southern country near the equator, a climate that left her feeling cold in Japan. Because of this, she habitually wears a handmade hat and cloak. Her grandfather was deeply interested in Japanese culture, and through his influence she acquired a strong knowledge of Japanese traditions and the language, while paradoxically proving quite poor at English.
Kud is a student at the same high school as Riki and a member of the Little Busters group. She is a classmate of Riki and belongs to the home economics club, though before that she had been part of the furniture club until it disbanded. The home economics club itself struggles with membership, and at one point she is its only active member aside from the busy dormitory head, leaving the club on the verge of dissolution. In addition to her school life, two dogs are central to her existence: Strelka, a large female Siberian Husky, and Belka, a small Schipperke. She shares a deep bond with them, raised together almost like siblings, and is able to communicate with them effectively.
Personality-wise, Kud is energetic, cheerful, innocently curious, and deeply considerate of others. She often brightens the atmosphere with her catchphrase “wafuu!” and throws herself into activities with enthusiasm. Behind this positivity, however, she carries a burden of guilt tied to her past. She spent her childhood constantly moving and never formed a lasting home, which left her with a strong yearning for belonging. In the imagined worst-case scenario that haunts her, she believes that because she chose to stay in Japan, her mother back in her home country was captured and tortured in connection with a rocket incident. This self-punishing belief is not true in reality, but it drives much of her inner conflict.
Her role in the story, particularly within the Little Busters! EX version, focuses on a romantic route with Riki that begins with him helping her overcome her weakness in English during diagnostic tests. As their relationship deepens, the narrative explores her backstory, her feelings of responsibility, and the world literally shaped by her intense desires. The alternate reality manifested by her powerful wish becomes the setting where she must confront her fears, reconcile her guilt, and learn to accept that she deserves a place to call home.
In terms of relationships, she interacts warmly with all Little Busters members. Riki is her closest emotional anchor and eventual romantic partner. The dormitory head serves as a senior figure in her struggling club. Her dogs are her constant companions and emotional support. Despite being one of the physically weakest members of the Little Busters team, Kud possesses a notable ability in the battle sequence minigame: she can command Strelka and Belka to attack, and a single hit from either dog is powerful enough to defeat any opponent.
Through the events of her route, Kud develops from a girl quietly punishing herself for an imagined failure into someone who can accept both her past and the possibility of a new home. Her arc emphasizes the strength found in acknowledging one’s weaknesses and the importance of human connection. Her dedication to her club, her effort to master a language, and her willingness to face the frightening world of her own making all illustrate a steady, determined growth.
