Description
Mayu Suzumoto is a student of Kisaragi Academy Senior High School, attending classroom 2-9. She is introduced when her classmates perform a friendship charm called Sachiko Ever After on her last day at the school, as she is about to move away and transfer to a new institution due to family circumstances. Mayu is the daughter of Yukie Suzumoto. She is a teenage girl of below average build and height, with dark brown hair and green eyes.

Mayu has a kind heart and an energetic, bright personality. She is open and accepting toward everyone, never showing favoritism, which has made her very popular among the other students and earned her the nickname Suzume, meaning Japanese sparrow. She is a member of the drama club and possesses a passion for acting, hoping to pursue it as a career. Her gentle and caring nature makes her a source of emotional support for her friends, but it also leaves her vulnerable to the dangers she faces. She is deeply loyal and willing to protect those she cares about, even at personal risk.

Her primary motivation is to stay with her friends and be there for them, especially during the terrifying events that unfold after the group is transported to the cursed Heavenly Host Elementary School. She also harbors a desire to continue her acting and maintain her close relationships despite the impending move.

In the story, Mayu is a central figure among the Kisaragi students who become trapped in Heavenly Host. Her death occurs relatively early in the narrative. She is attacked by the spirits of two murdered children, Yuki and Tokiko, who grab her legs and violently slam her against a wall, killing her. Her shredded corpse is later discovered by other characters, most notably by her close friend Sakutaro Morishige, whose discovery of her remains triggers a mental breakdown and leads him to behave erratically.

Mayu’s most significant relationship is with Sakutaro Morishige. She is the only person who addresses him by the nickname Shige-nii, and it is suggested that she has romantic feelings for him. She is also close to Ayumi Shinozaki and the other classmates, and she feels a strong sense of responsibility toward the younger student Yuka Mochida, trying to protect her. Her bond with her mother, Yukie, is mentioned as part of her background.

Mayu’s character development is limited by her early death, but her presence acts as a catalyst for the emotional and psychological unraveling of those around her, particularly Morishige. Her resilience and desire to stay positive are shown in her interactions before the tragedy.

Mayu has no supernatural abilities; her notable traits are her acting talent and her capacity for empathy and kindness. She is remembered for her warmth and the impact her loss has on the surviving characters.
