Description
Gouki Daimonji is a third-year student at Tokyo Metropolitan Harumi High School who commands the Vanguard team known as Team Handsome, envisioning himself as a Captain Pirate. He also acts as the leader of Card Shop Voyage, a position through which he welcomes cardfighters of all skill levels and earns the respect of many aspiring players.

His appearance reflects his pirate-inspired persona, featuring a red bandana over medium-length black hair, a torn orange and white shirt beneath a brown vest, a red sash belt, baggy tan pants, knee-length brown boots, and distinctive orange eyes. He is easily excitable and energetic, yet not particularly intellectual. Despite these traits, he demonstrates reciprocal respect for opponents and enthusiastically accepts cardfights against challengers regardless of their experience level.

Gouki maintains a devoted relationship with his younger sister Nagisa, doting on her excessively in a way that has contributed to her spoiled nature. This devotion extends to her romantic interests, leading to a notable misunderstanding when Nagisa developed a crush on Kamui Katsuragi. When Kamui avoided Nagisa's proposals due to his actual feelings for Emi Sendou, Gouki mistakenly believed that Kamui was involved with Aichi Sendou. He subsequently challenged Aichi to a cardfight, accusing him of being a home wrecker in an attempt to win Kamui back for his sister. Gouki won this initial fight, which led him to underestimate Team Q4 before the regional tournament.

During the Kanto regional tournament, Team Handsome faced a stunning elimination at the hands of Team Avengers in the semifinals, preventing Gouki from securing a rematch with Aichi Sendou. Prior to the High School Arc, he achieved second place in the Asia Circuit Championship. During the Asia Circuit, Team Handsome competed for the national championship with Kamui Katsuragi temporarily joining their ranks. After witnessing Aichi's strategic use of Great Silver Wolf Garmore's limit break, Gouki drew inspiration for adapting his own deck strategies, incorporating similar tactics in later matches against opponents such as Mitsusada Koutei Kenji.

As a cardfighter, Gouki specializes exclusively in the Granblue clan, employing a resurrection-based strategy that exploits the drop zone to revive fallen units continuously. This approach provides the distinct advantage of flexible guarding without permanent resource loss, as units used for defense can be brought back from the drop zone. His signature early-game tactic involves superior calling his starting vanguard, Guiding Zombie, to the front line for a free attack on the second turn, then replacing it with resurrected units in subsequent turns. He favors left-side placements when executing this strategy. He also utilizes superior ride lines to conserve hand resources while pressuring opponents with power-gaining units.

His ultimate maneuver involves filling his soul with units such as Rough Seas Banshee to activate King of Demonic Seas Basskirk's megablast, which requires eight soulblast and five counterblast to superior call up to five units from the drop zone, enabling a devastating multi-attack barrage. His initial deck, named Infinite Resurrection Hell, centered on Basskirk with support from Captain Nightmist and Ruin Shade. After observing Aichi's limit break techniques, he developed a second deck called Criminal Strom, focusing on Ice Prison Necromancer Cocytus for endgame power surges and using Captain Nightkid as the first vanguard to seed the drop zone with resources while maintaining card advantage through Dancing Cutlass.

Throughout later story arcs, Gouki continues working at Card Shop Voyage while remaining an active tournament participant, and his rivalry with Team Q4 persists. The kanji in his surname Daimonji translate to big or great, sentence or writings, and character or handwriting.
