Description
Yuri Honjo is a teenage girl with lower-back length dark-blue hair swept to the left in bangs, brown eyes, and a curvaceous frame. She typically wears a naval-style school uniform and olive boots acquired from a deceased individual, her skirt later torn on the right side. Initially kind, sweet, polite, and upbeat, she demonstrates strong independent thinking and adaptability, making decisions based on her surroundings while leveraging physical and mental resilience.

Abruptly transported into a dimension of interconnected skyscrapers and suspension bridges, she witnessed a masked assailant murder a man, triggering her fight for survival. After failed attempts to contact her parents, she reached her brother Rika Honjo via phone, establishing a plan to reunite at a prominent black tower. This connection fortified her resolve, with a pocketbook containing Rika's photo symbolizing her motivation. Early encounters involved evading "Masks"—human figures compelled to instill despair and drive victims to suicide—while navigating rooftop hazards. A police officer's attempted assault ended with sniper intervention, allowing her to arm herself with a gun and lighter. This marked her transition from evasion to tactical engagement, including exploiting environmental elements like smoke screens for cover.

Her combat proficiency evolved rapidly despite minimal prior experience; she progressed from hesitating to shoot Masks to executing precise headshots. This development stemmed from necessity after learning Masks were brainwashed humans under external control. Alliances formed a key survival strategy: she partnered with Mayuko Nise, a ruthless survivor, after reciprocal rescues. Their dynamic highlighted contrasts—Yuri prioritized preserving humanity amid violence, while Mayuko embraced pragmatism. This bond deepened, with Yuri's kiss solidifying their loyalty. She later collaborated with other survivors like Kuon Shinzaki and Sniper Mask, though trust remained conditional amid shifting factions.

A significant transformation occurred when she donned a Faceless Mask to save Mayuko, becoming a "Person Close to God." This granted enhanced physical capabilities: strength to overpower armored Angels, speed allowing her to perceive their movements in slow motion, and reflexes enabling bullet dodging. Her marksmanship and tactical acumen amplified, letting her defeat multiple powerful Masks solo. Further awakening unlocked dimensional manipulation: teleportation via boundary-crossing, intangibility by phasing into alternate dimensions, and "dimensional shooting"—firing bullets through spatial layers to bypass defenses. However, these abilities carried risks; uncontrolled use could strand others in void dimensions, and exertion induced severe fatigue.

Her moral compass shifted throughout her journey. Early trauma included witnessing suicides and failing to prevent a woman's jump, fueling self-blame. Initially rejecting killing, she later accepted it as essential for survival, even against brainwashed humans. After Rika's brainwashing by the Administrator Mamoru Aikawa, she embraced darker methods, vowing to "walk a path of evil" to eliminate the Administrator and dismantle the world. This resolve nearly led to her death until Rika's intervention. Ultimately, she chose self-exile to master her powers, vanishing temporarily to prevent accidental dimensional harm.
