Officer Chiba, whose full name is Kazunobu Chiba, is a police detective in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, assigned to the First Division of the Criminal Investigation Section. He is a regular supporting member of the police team led by Inspector Juzo Megure and frequently works alongside fellow detectives Wataru Takagi and Miwako Sato.
