Description
Chū-tan holds the position of Eto-Shin of the Rat, the highest rank among the twelve Zodiac Gods due to her status as number one and the strongest Eto-Shin. Her protected region is South Kanto. Standing 178 cm tall, she possesses light purple hair, sharp red eyes, and three rhombus-shaped crystals on her forehead. Her design incorporates rat ears and a tail. Initially, she wears a purple bodysuit with an exposed abdomen and a yellow necklace. After her Etotama undergoes healing, her outfit shifts to white with a matching necklace, and her forehead crystals become sky blue.
Her personality evolves significantly. Originally, she radiated warmth and approachability, serving as a supportive leader figure whom the other Eto-Shin relied upon. This included a close bond with Nyaa-tan, who once sacrificed her own chance to join the Zodiac to support Chū-tan from a distance. However, prolonged isolation and the burdens of leadership fostered intense negativity within her. This culminated in a deep-seated hatred toward Nyaa-tan and the cat clan, driving her to become merciless and cold in combat. Her primary objective became destroying Nyaa-tan, whom she perceived as a betrayer following an attempt to heal her Etotama using the Kagura Senguu technique.
Her combat abilities center on a red blade that functions as both a whip and a projectile weapon. Key techniques include the Kokushi Tenchuusatsu, which emits a destructive red beam, and the Kagura Senguu—a forbidden ritual capable of healing or destroying an Etotama. Chū-tan uniquely mastered this latter technique solely through observation after witnessing Nyaa-tan use it. She first employed it against Nyaa-tan, resulting in the cat Eto-Shin's fragmented memories and amnesia.
Pivotal relationships define her story. Her enmity with Nyaa-tan stemmed from their fractured past, where perceived abandonment and subsequent clashes fueled mutual conflict. After Nyaa-tan successfully healed Chū-tan’s Etotama using Kagura Senguu during their final confrontation, the negativity dissipated. Chū-tan confessed her profound loneliness and grief over their separation, leading to reconciliation and a return to her original caring nature. Separately, Shaa-tan maintained contact throughout Chū-tan’s dark period, serving as her former mentor who provided guidance despite her descent.
Existing since 4000 BC, cheese is noted as her preferred food. Following the resolution of her conflict with Nyaa-tan, her role shifted from antagonist to ally.
