Description
Shima-tan is the Tiger genus Eto-shin, holding the third rank among the twelve zodiac gods. Her appearance includes long, straight black hair, typically braided and secured with a red ribbon, bright red eyes, and rosy cheeks. She stands approximately 165 cm tall with an average build, consistently displaying tiger ears and a tail. She is often seen wearing a red qipao with orange trims, brown stockings, tiger-striped gloves and undergarments, and black heels.
Her personality merges a seemingly calm and gentle demeanor with a playful, hyperactive side. She exhibits quick anger but maintains self-control and reason. Regarded as brave, competitive, and self-confident with leadership qualities, she strongly adheres to principles of hard work and earning achievements fairly. Shima-tan is protective and will defend friends without hesitation. Her speech features the Kansai dialect, reflecting the warm-hearted, fun-loving personality associated with Osaka (historically Naniwa). She enjoys liquor, snacks, and collecting the plates snacks are served on.
As a mentor, Shima-tan focuses on physical combat and martial arts training, specifically identified as a master of "Naniwan Kung-fu." She rigorously trains Nyaa-tan, emphasizing physical strength and fighting techniques. While stern in ensuring Nyaa-tan earns other Eto-shin's seals through effort, she deeply cares about Nyaa-tan's goal of becoming a full zodiac member. Her relationships include mutual respect with Takeru Amato and a collaborative partnership with Dora-tan, another mentor to Nyaa-tan. She maintains close bonds with other zodiacs, often socializing with them during leisure times.
She actively participates in events affecting the zodiacs, notably supporting the inclusion of the Cat (Nyaa-tan) as a zodiac member. Recognized as one of the four strongest Eto-shin, her combat skills and tactical mastery are well-established among her peers. Shima-tan appears in both the main series and the OVA "Etotama: Nyankyaku Banrai," continuing her role within the zodiac group during new challenges, such as confronting unusual disturbances and interacting with mysterious entities like Naatan.
