Description
Hiroshi Miwa is a student at Constant Magic Academy and serves as a central figure in the story, whose journey is defined by a transformation from an unremarkable and timid youth into a powerful hero. Physically, he is depicted as short with brown hair and brown eyes, giving him a youthful and somewhat mischievous appearance. Initially, he is portrayed as a below-average student with low magical talent, often finding himself at the bottom of his class alongside his friend Keena Soga. He has a reputation for being talkative and is known as a source of information within the school, though his habit of speaking without thinking sometimes contributes to misunderstandings.
Personality-wise, Hiroshi begins as a self-professed coward and a bit of a pushover, often being picked on by others. Despite this, he harbors a strong admiration for his classmate and friend, Akuto Sai, looking up to him as a bro and willingly choosing to associate with him despite Akuto's feared reputation as the predicted Demon King. This admiration is a key part of his early motivation; he wants to be useful and prove his worth, yet he often regrets his own lack of power and effort, sometimes laughing off his situation rather than striving to improve.
Hiroshi's role in the story undergoes a dramatic shift when a prophecy reveals that he is destined to become a hero. This destiny is realized during a school trip to his home island of Miwajima, where he discovers a cave shrine. After being defeated and thrown into a lake by an enemy known as Mr. X, Hiroshi finds a sword in the shrine and pulls it from the stone. This act activates the Brave Suit, a powerful mechanical device created specifically to counter magic users and Demon Kings. Upon donning the suit, he adopts the alias Brave and gains immense power. His primary motivation becomes to use this power to protect others, especially the girl he likes, Yuko Hattori, leading him to hunt monsters and confront threats, including his former friend Akuto.
Key relationships are central to his character arc. His bond with Akuto Sai is the most significant; he initially follows Akuto loyally, but after obtaining the Brave Suit, he finds himself in a hostile confrontation with him when the situation demands it. Their conflict stems from a fundamental clash between the hero's duty to eliminate the Demon King and his personal loyalty to his friend. His romantic feelings are for Yuko Hattori, and his actions are heavily influenced by a desire to help her, as she suffers from a curse inflicted by a witch. He also shares a close relationship with his younger sister, Yukiko Miwa, who is concerned about his and Akuto's safety.
Hiroshi's character development is a poignant journey from insecurity to self-acceptance. Initially, he regrets his status as a "side character" and feels his life is worthless without power. In his first major battle as Brave, he is ultimately defeated by Akuto, and his suit is destroyed, leading him to believe he can no longer be a hero. However, in a crucial moment of growth, Yuko Hattori accepts him not for the power of the Brave Suit, but for who he naturally is, stating that he is great regardless. This allows Hiroshi to develop genuine self-worth and begin a romantic relationship with her, independent of his role as a hero.
Later in the narrative, Hiroshi's significance escalates to a cosmic level. By fusing with the original creator of the Brave Suit, Boichiro Yamato, he gains access to profound knowledge and power, eventually becoming a being who can manipulate the fabric of reality itself. In the afterlife, he demonstrates abilities such as subjective reality, time travel, and teleportation. His journey culminates in him taking on the mantle of the new Law of Identity, a position that elevates him to a divine, omnipresent being that predates existence, effectively becoming a god and the new protagonist of his own story. This final transformation sees him surpass his original role as a mere "hero" to become an entity that oversees and writes stories.
Regarding his notable abilities, as a normal student, Hiroshi possesses no significant powers and is considered one of the weakest in magic. His power set is almost entirely derived from the Brave Suit, which grants a vast array of weapons and defensive systems. These include a Nuclear Fusion Bomb capable of devastating a wide area, the generation of super-hot Plasma Balls, a Mana Canceller that nullifies the magic of opponents, high-frequency blades and atomic cutters, a Dimensional Fault Field for forcefield creation and dimensional storage, and enhanced senses and instinctive action that allow for 360-degree awareness and automatic dodging. As the series progresses and he transcends his human form, he gains omnipotent-level abilities, including plot manipulation, beyond-dimensional existence, and the powers of all previous characters, culminating in his role as the all-powerful New Law of Identity.
