Description
Jeremy Tsurugi is a principal character from the Digimon Fusion series, initially introduced as a classmate and self-proclaimed eternal rival to the protagonist, Mikey Kudo. He is a tall teenage boy with lightly tanned skin, spiked dark brown hair, and brown eyes. His typical attire consists of a forest green button-up shirt worn over a light blue t-shirt, brown cargo pants, and brown and dark green saddle shoes, a look that changes to more casual or school-oriented outfits when he returns to the human world. In the English version of the series, he is portrayed as an avid gamer, frequently making jokes and references to video games and pop culture.

Jeremy’s personality is defined by a strong sense of principle and a deep hatred for immorality and injustice, traits that are heavily influenced by his practice of kendo. He is described as being a highly skilled kenshi, considered one of the strongest middle school swordsmen in his area, and his competitive drive stems from a past defeat by Mikey, who was an amateur at the time. This event fuels Jeremy’s determination to prove himself, though his rivalry is ultimately one of deep respect and friendship. Despite his bravado and strong sense of justice, he has a notable fear of heights and can be somewhat cowardly in the face of immediate danger, often clinging to Mikey for security. He also has a well-documented, severe crush on Nene Amano, which frequently leads him to act foolishly in her presence. Jeremy often finds common ground with their friend Angie Hinomoto, particularly when it comes to criticizing Mikey’s rash and seemingly reckless decision-making.

Jeremy’s journey begins when he follows Mikey to investigate a mysterious voice, leading all three friends to be transported to the Digital World. Once there, he becomes a core member of the Fusion Fighters. His early contributions are often tactical, and he proves to be a capable leader, taking command of the group’s forces on occasions when Mikey is incapacitated. In battle, Jeremy is most frequently associated with wielding the Rare Star Sword, a weapon formed from the Digimon Starmon and the Pickmonz. His knowledge is not limited to swordsmanship; he also possesses a unique talent as a mechanic. Because his parents are businesspeople in the machinery field, he has a deep understanding of machines and is often tasked with repairing their ally Ballistamon.

Throughout the first part of the series, Jeremy plays a crucial supporting role in the hunt for the Code Crowns. After the Bagra Army chief, Bagramon, sends Mikey, Angie, and Jeremy back to the human world, Jeremy expresses frustration at being left behind. He tells Mikey that his father thought his stories of the Digital World were made up. When Mikey resolves to return to the Digital World alone, Omnimon explains that he only has enough power to send one person back. Despite the sadness of being separated, Mikey assures Jeremy and Angie that they remain essential members of the Fusion Fighters, citing Jeremy’s reliability when the team needed him most. The courage and friendship demonstrated by Jeremy and Angie ultimately empower Shoutmon to evolve into OmniShoutmon to destroy the villain Tactimon.

Jeremy shows significant development over the course of the series. While initially portrayed as a rival who is often fearful or comedic, he grows into a reliable and effective fighter. This is further demonstrated one year later during the Digimon Hunters arc, where he storms into Mikey’s room demanding to find the man who gives out Fusion Loaders. The Old Clock Shop Man eventually grants him his own Fusion Loader, allowing him to directly command Digimon in battle. Using Ballistamon and Deputymon, Jeremy fights alongside his friends to fend off the villain Quartzmon, solidifying his role as an active and vital protector of both worlds.
