TV-Series
Description
Damemon is a Mutant Digimon who appears in Digimon Fusion. The character was accidentally born when drifting waste data in the Digital World randomly combined and mutated. This unusual origin is reflected in the Digimon's behavior and abilities, which often involve foul smells and unpredictable movements.
In terms of appearance, Damemon resembles a small, mechanical, clownish version of Sukamon, another Digimon known for its less-than-pleasant characteristics. Damemon is armed with tonfa, which are traditional Okinawan weapons, and typically acts in a childish and clumsy manner. This seemingly harmless and bumbling exterior serves a specific purpose, as it helps divert suspicion from the character's true nature. Damemon has a dual identity and can transform into a much more formidable and serious form known as Tuwarmon, a robotic ninja with a taller build, four robot-like wings on its back, and an X-shaped symbol on its chest. The character's favorite phrase is No good, no good, which is a constant refrain in its speech.
Damemon has a pronounced and consistent personality trait of criticizing others without regard for the person or the situation. This habit of speaking negatively about everything and everyone is a core part of the character's identity, and it does not read the atmosphere before making critical remarks. This behavior makes Damemon broadly disliked by many other characters, including powerful figures such as Tactimon and Blastmon. Despite this unpleasant habit, Damemon is not a solitary character and relies on a partnership with Tyutyumon, who rides on the Tyutyu Tray located on the back of Damemon's head. The two are often seen together, and it is suggested that Damemon is only truly a complete Digimon when with its partner.
Motivations for Damemon are closely tied to the character's role as a spy for the villainous AxeKnightmon. Prior to the events of the series, Damemon appeared before a grieving child named Ewan Amano and guided him to AxeKnightmon, who tricked the boy into joining his scheme. To serve as an effective spy within the Bagra Army, Damemon took on the role of Laylamon's pet. This position allowed Damemon to occasionally sit in on meetings with Lord Bagra and his Head Officers, gathering intelligence while maintaining the cover of a harmless, if annoying, mascot. The constant criticism of the army was part of this act, helping Damemon blend in as a mere nuisance.
The character's role in the story evolves significantly over time. Initially serving as a spy, Damemon is eventually reassigned to be Ewan Amano's personal bodyguard after the Bagra Army conquers the Digital World. In this role, Damemon begins to show genuine concern for the boy, eventually revealing the truth that AxeKnightmon had manipulated Ewan. This marks a major turning point, as Damemon chooses loyalty to the boy over the original mission. The character later demonstrates a powerful transformation by becoming Tuwarmon and absorbing the Sun Bagra Army to become Ruthless Tuwarmon Beast Mode. After being mortally injured in battle, Tuwarmon reverts to the Damemon form. In a moment of redemption, Damemon tells Ewan the truth about being manipulated before succumbing to wounds and dying in the boy's arms.
The development of Damemon is defined by this journey from a deceptive spy to a loyal and self-sacrificing partner. After being revived following the defeat of Bagramon, Damemon makes a conscious choice not to return to life immediately. Instead, Damemon waits a year, hiding and observing to determine what kind of person Ewan had become. Only when Ewan proves he has grown stronger and more independent does Damemon reveal himself once more. In the Digimon Hunts that occur in the city, Damemon finally becomes Ewans true partner, solidifying their bond.
In combat, Damemon has several notable abilities, most of which are unpleasant rather than directly powerful. The Bunbun Ken attack involves rotating its tonfa, which is more useful for making an opponent flinch than for inflicting real damage. The Gun Vulcan attack fires small, black, mysterious objects from hidden guns in its feet and tonfa that spread a foul smell, causing opponents to lose their fighting spirit. The Boo~st Attack spreads a lot of smelly gases as Damemon strikes, with such chaotic propulsion that even Damemon does not know where it will fly off to, inflicting emotional damage through both the hit and the stench. The character's most significant ability is the Digi Ninpou: Bujin Henge, or Warrior Transformation, which allows Damemon to transform into the far more dangerous and skilled Tuwarmon. In this true form, it can use attacks such as Mantis Dance and Smokin Boogie, and in its enhanced Beast Mode, it can unleash devastating assaults like Tuwarmon Missle Storm, Ultimate Firestorm, and Mad Mantis Dance.
