TV-Series
Description
Blastmon is one of the three Head Officers of the Bagra Army, serving as a major antagonist. He is a massive, super-heavyweight Digimon whose entire body is composed of a glittering mineral substance and clad in hard crystal armor. This armor possesses the ability to regenerate when broken, making him a formidable physical opponent. His appearance is central to his identity, as he constantly consumes crystals and diamonds specifically to maintain and enhance the shine of his body. If he uses his powerful attacks, his body can temporarily lose its luster and turn a dull grayish color, a state he finds deeply unpleasant.

In terms of personality, Blastmon is characterized by a stark contrast between his immense power and his childish, simple-minded nature. He is slow-witted and often forgetful, sometimes losing track of what he was about to do. His primary motivation is not conquest or strategy but a narcissistic obsession with his own beauty and brilliance. He refers to himself as the most beautiful and sublime creature, and his actions are largely driven by the desire to find gems to eat and keep his body sparkling. This vanity often overrides his duties as a general, causing him to abandon fights or become distracted by shinier prospects.

Blastmon's role in the story is as a recurring physical threat to the series' protagonists, the Fusion Fighters. He commands a large army of Digimon, including a troupe of Vilemon, and oversees operations in zones such as the Sand Zone and Disc Zone. Despite his high rank, his lack of intelligence often makes him more of a brute-force obstacle than a tactical mastermind. He engages in several major battles, first clashing with the Fusion Fighters in the Sand Zone, where he is more interested in finding a hidden treasure of diamonds than in defeating them. He later has a significant confrontation against Kiriha Aonuma's Blue Flare army in the Disc Zone, where his power proves to be nearly a match for the advanced fusion DeckerGreymon, resulting in a massive draw that collapses the zone.

His key relationships are primarily with his fellow Bagra Army officers. He has a notably informal and almost affectionate way of addressing them, giving Tactimon the nickname Tac-chan and Lilithmon the nickname Lili-tan. This behavior highlights his childish and unprofessional demeanor compared to his more serious and calculating colleagues. Tactimon often views him as a disappointment due to his failures, while Lilithmon has her own agendas that occasionally intersect with his.

Blastmon undergoes significant development, though much of it is a downward spiral following his defeats. In the Warrior Zone, after a replica of him is destroyed by Beelzemon, the real Blastmon arrives to confront the Fusion Fighters. In the ensuing battle, he is overwhelmed and defeated by the combined power of Shoutmon X5B, an advanced fusion form. The attack is so devastating that it destroys nearly his entire body, leaving only his head intact. His disembodied head is taken back to the Bagra Army headquarters, where he is mocked by Tactimon and informed that it will take 400 years for his body to regenerate. In this diminished state, he later fuses with Lilithmon and three Vilemon to create a powerful, fused form of Lilithmon known as Lilithmon Darkness Mode. Subsequently, his head is absorbed by the corrupted Apollomon Whispered and becomes part of an even more powerful evil fusion, Evilbeast Lilithmon. Following the destruction of this form by Beelzemon, Blastmon is completely annihilated.

As a fighter, Blastmon boasts a wide array of powerful techniques that utilize his crystalline body. His signature move is Diamond Machine Gun, where he fires intense punches and the crystals from his body like a rapid-fire barrage. He can also curl into a spiked ball and roll over opponents with Diamond Hedgehog, fire a high-temperature laser called Crystal Breath that requires sunlight to use, and smash the ground with his Diamond Tail or the devastating Final Subagōn Punch. His other attacks include Prism Flash, Junjou Emerald Chop, and a series of Rock-Paper-Scissors themed moves: Janken Gu for a mighty punch, Janken Choki for a powerful chop, and Janken Pa for another punching attack. He can also explosively launch himself at an enemy with Kenran Crystal Volcano.
