Daisuke Kishio
Description
Daisuke Kishio is a Japanese voice actor, singer, and narrator born on March 28, 1974, in Matsusaka, Mie Prefecture, Japan. He is currently affiliated with the talent agency Aoni Production. Kishio changed the spelling of his given name from 大輔 to だいすけ on June 1, 2007, though the pronunciation and romanization remained the same.
His interest in voice acting began in middle school after being influenced by drama CDs. He later joined his high school's broadcasting club, where his narration won an award. Despite initial parental opposition, he pursued his goal, graduating from the Yoyogi Animation School in Nagoya before moving to Tokyo. He trained under the direction of Mitsuo Senda at the theater group Free Atom, an experience that strongly influenced his improvisational skills and energetic performance style. His debut role was in the 1996 anime Mizuiro Jidai.
Kishio is known for his versatile, mid-to-high pitched voice, which allows him to portray a wide range of characters. This includes princely, handsome young men, emotionally intense comedic roles, and even child or elderly characters. He is also recognized for his improvisational ability and energetic presence at live events. Kishio has been a member of several voice actor units, including the group Nazo no Shin Unit STA☆MEN, the singing unit DD with fellow voice actor Daisuke Namikawa, and Stella Quintet with cast members from the La Corda d'Oro series.
His filmography is extensive and spans a variety of genres. Among his most well-known roles are Kaname Kuran in Vampire Knight, Kurama in Kamisama Kiss, Azuma Yunoki in La Corda d'Oro, Tsukune Aono in Rosario + Vampire, Loki in Fairy Tail, and Junta Teshima in Yowamushi Pedal. In the Danganronpa series, he voices Fuyuhiko Kuzuryū. He has also been the Japanese voice of Cabba in the Dragon Ball franchise. Kishio's career is also marked by a nomination for the "Best Actor in a Leading Role," "Best Actor in a Supporting Role," and "Best Radio Personality" at the second Seiyu Awards.
