Description
Jaime Alcaraz is a character from the anime Cardfight!! Vanguard G NEXT. He is a professional-level cardfighter who originates from Spain, which is reflected in his frequent use of Spanish words and phrases such as "amigo" during conversation, as well as his occasional difficulty with the Japanese language.

Orphaned during his childhood, Jaime grew up in a children's home under the care of a man named Emilio. It was Emilio who introduced him to Vanguard and gave him his first and most treasured card, "One Who Surpasses the Storm, Thavas," an action that Jaime credits with changing his life. The deep sentimental value he places on this card is demonstrated when he throws himself into a river to retrieve it after it falls, intending to pass it on to his friend Chrono Shindou.

His personality is outgoing, adventurous, and driven by a desire to have fun and try new things. He possesses a keen ability to read people, easily recognizing the potential and talent in others, which allows him to form friendships without much difficulty. This perceptiveness is balanced by a notably flirtatious and charismatic demeanor, as he frequently makes romantic advances toward female characters, including a shrine maiden and Tokoha Anjou.

Jaime first arrives in Japan after being invited by the Japanese Vanguard Association as a representative cardfighter from the Euro League. Upon meeting Chrono Shindou, he initially appears more interested in tourism and experiencing Japanese culture than in cardfighting, hiring Chrono as a guide and embarking on a series of sightseeing adventures. Despite this casual introduction, he is a highly skilled fighter who participates in the Paris-based Euro League. His core motivation is his belief that cardfighting serves as a universal language that creates bonds, famously stating that people "become amigos after the match".

Throughout the series, Jaime plays a significant supporting role to the main characters. He gifts the rare card Chronodragon Nextage to Chrono during a difficult period and assists Team TRY3 in various ways, including orchestrating a training camp on an island to help strengthen their teamwork. During the U20 Championship arc, despite being 19 years old and thus too old to compete as a participant, he returns to Japan and becomes the coach for Tokoha Anjou's team, which consists of Satoru Enishi and Kumi Okazaki. He secretly registers the team under the name "Team Jaime Flowers" and later takes on the role of a special guest commentator during the tournament, where his overt partiality and energetic antics cause disruptions for the host.

A key relationship in his development is with a fellow Euro League fighter named Miguel Torres. Jaime introduces Miguel to Tokoha Anjou in Paris, and the three become friends. When Miguel dies under mysterious circumstances, Jaime is deeply affected. He challenges Tokoha to a cardfight to help her refocus her emotions and becomes inspired to honor Miguel's unfulfilled dream of winning the U20 Championship, which fuels his return to Japan as a coach. His friendship with Chrono Shindou is another central relationship, beginning with their playful sightseeing tour and evolving into a deep mutual respect, with Jaime acting as a mentor and supporter.

In battle, Jaime uses the Aqua Force clan, known for its aggressive and strategic playstyle focused on multiple attacks. His fighting philosophy mirrors his personality: dynamic, relentless, and focused on overwhelming the opponent with waves of assaults. His signature card and ace is the Thavas unit, starting with "One Who Surpasses the Storm, Thavas" and later evolving to "Storm of Lament, Wailing Thavas." His decks are built around the "Wave" mechanic, which rewards the player for performing a certain number of attacks in a single turn. His known battle record includes victories against Mamoru Anjou and Cain Burkley, as well as a narrow loss to Chrono Shindou.
