Description
Noramimi is a mascot character who works at the Hello Kids branch office number fifty-nine, an agency that trains and places mascots with human families to serve as companions and babysitters for children. He comes from a demon or ogre family, though many people mistake him for a monk, and his nonstandard appearance makes him unpopular with families, leaving him unable to secure a permanent home stay. Despite this rejection, Noramimi continues his duties at the agency with perseverance, maintaining a generally earnest and good-natured temperament even when faced with disappointment. His primary motivation is to find a family that will accept him for who he is and allow him to fulfill his role as a mascot. As the central figure of the story, his everyday struggles and interactions with the other mascots and agency staff drive much of the comedy and warmth of the series. He shares the workplace with a variety of other mascot characters, including Toshio Handa and many others such as Andrew, Asunaro, and Cinnamon, and these relationships form the core of his social world. Noramimi does not appear to possess supernatural or combat abilities; his notable traits are tied to his role as a mascot, meaning his value lies in companionship, childcare, and bringing comfort to the children he is assigned to look after. His development across the series revolves around his persistent search for belonging and his gradual acceptance by those around him, despite the initial prejudice against his demon lineage.
