Description
Raphael Walt, born Sirius Dieke, carries a legacy of concealed identity and supernatural fusion. As the Marquis Dieke's illegitimate son from a maid, he endured childhood bullying. Kidnapped alongside his mother by the Marquess, they became targets for a forbidden life force and magic transfer to the Marquess's ailing son, Sirius. The ritual claimed his mother's life and fused the original Sirius's soul into Raphael's body, granting him dark magic. A dying participant then cursed Raphael, intensifying his hatred and steering him towards vengeance.

Attending the Magic Academy as "Sirius Dieke," Raphael served as student council president. Externally, he projected kindness and professionalism, showing no bias towards commoners like Maria Campbell and permitting Katarina Claes to visit the council room for his self-brewed tea. Internally, the curse fueled seething resentment, especially towards nobles like Katarina, whom he sarcastically dubbed "savior" while privately condemning her as a hypocrite. Driven by the curse, he employed dark magic to coerce students into falsely accusing Katarina of bullying Maria, aiming for her expulsion. Simultaneously, he displayed protective instincts, using wind magic to rescue Katarina and Sophia Ascart from a cliff fall during exams. This duality required a composed facade while battling the curse's corrosive torment.

A confrontation with Katarina proved pivotal. She uncovered his true name and offered steadfast support, shattering the curse's grip. Freed, Raphael renounced dark magic and the Sirius identity. He joined the Magic Ministry as Raphael Walt, becoming Vice-Head of the Magic Tools Laboratory under Director Larna Smith. He manages significant paperwork due to Larna's frequent absences. Larna aided his transition by dyeing his distinctive red hair brown for anonymity; the anime adaptation depicts this disguise via a magic ring tool. Raphael mentors colleagues like Sora Smith in administration, expressing exasperation at Larna's unreliability yet respecting her deeply for accepting him when other departments refused.

Post-redemption, Raphael exhibits a gentler demeanor tinged with regret over past deeds, though a cunning streak persists. He collaborates with Maria Campbell and Larna to delay Katarina's engagement to Prince Geordo by facilitating her ministry employment. His skills extend beyond magic; he brews tea with a "gentle flavor" recognizable to Katarina and delivers effective back massages, despite often needing them himself from overwork. Magically, he commands wind magic (rated 4/5 potency) and retains residual dark magic capabilities: memory alteration, sleep induction, and non-corporeal transformation into shadow, which he avoids using maliciously. He also possesses exceptional organizational skills, efficiently managing "mountains of paperwork."

Raphael's relationships reflect his evolution. His dynamic with Katarina shifted from hostility to devoted admiration, actively participating in efforts to prolong her engagement. His initial exploitative connection with Maria, forged for revenge, matured into genuine friendship; he acknowledges he might have loved her under different circumstances. Nicol Ascart remains a childhood friend who noted Raphael's early behavioral changes. At the ministry, his bond with Larna blends gratitude with frustration over her workload delegation, while mentoring Sora showcases his patient responsibility. Statistically, his attributes include wisdom (5/5), magic (4/5), and charisma (4/5). Documented preferences include black tea, snacks, and warm beds after work, alongside an aversion to dark, gloomy places.
