Description
Garcia Fernando Lovelace is the only son of Diego Jose San Fernando Lovelace and the heir to the Lovelace family line. Following his father's assassination, he becomes the twelfth head of the family. He is of Venezuelan nationality. When first introduced, Garcia is approximately twelve to thirteen years old. By the time of the events in Roberta's Blood Trail, he has aged to around fifteen and has noticeably grown taller and matured emotionally.

In terms of personality, Garcia is shrewd and confident, carrying himself with a great deal of pride in his family name despite the troubling circumstances that often surround it. He displays a deep and unwavering loyalty to his servants, considering them to be extensions of his own family. However, he also retains some immature qualities typical of his age, including a tendency to pout, a heavy sense of entitlement, and a habit of acting without fully considering the consequences of his actions. He can be demanding, yet this is tempered by a genuine care for those who serve him. The violent and brutal nature of his maid Roberta's actions has been known to cause him severe psychological trauma.

Garcia's primary motivation throughout Roberta's Blood Trail is to stop Roberta from continuing her bloody rampage of revenge against the US intelligence operatives who killed his father. He is not driven by a desire for vengeance himself, but rather by a need to save Roberta from destroying herself. He travels to the criminal city of Roanapur specifically for this purpose, accompanied by another maid, Fabiola Iglesias, seeking help to intervene where he cannot alone. His ultimate goal is to bring Roberta back to the family and restore peace, using any means necessary to break her from her violent frenzy.

Garcia's role in the story is that of a catalyst and the emotional core of the conflict. He is the reason Roberta initially came to Roanapur in the past, and he is the only person who has a chance of reaching her in her current state. He approaches the Lagoon Company for assistance, but places his trust almost exclusively in Rock, the group's negotiator, viewing him as the only person in Roanapur he can truly rely on. He does not participate directly in the firefights, instead acting as the moral counterweight to Roberta's descent into madness. He is frequently seen strategizing with Rock and pleading for a solution that does not end in more death.

His key relationships are central to his character. His bond with Roberta is the most significant; he treats her like a member of his extended family, and in return, she is fiercely devoted to him. This devotion is what ultimately allows him to intervene in her rampage. He also shares a close relationship with his other maid, Fabiola, who accompanies and protects him. His relationship with Rock is built on trust, as Rock is one of the few people in the underworld who seems to understand Garcia's desire for a non-lethal resolution. He is also noted to have a cold and manipulative side, as seen when other powerful characters like Mr. Chang refer to him as a pawn in a larger game.

Garcia shows significant development from his first appearance to the OVA. Initially portrayed as a more helpless and dependent child, he returns to Roanapur with a newfound emotional strength and resolve. He is no longer just a victim but an active agent in the story. His most dramatic development comes during the climax, where he executes a drastic plan to stop Roberta. In a desperate gambit, he stages the death of a US soldier, Caxton, with his own hands. This act is intended to shatter Roberta's delusion that she is on a path of justice. When this causes an enraged, drug-fueled Roberta to turn on him and shoot him, breaking her solemn vow never to harm him, it finally snaps her back to reality. This event showcases his willingness to sacrifice his own safety and innocence to save someone he loves. The encounter ends with him kissing Roberta, suggesting a complex and evolving depth to his feelings for her that goes beyond that of a master for his servant. He survives the encounter and is last seen recovering from his injuries.

While Garcia is not a fighter and lacks notable combat abilities, his greatest asset is his resolve and his strategic mind. He is shrewd and capable of understanding the complex politics of Roanapur. His most notable ability is his profound emotional influence over Roberta, which he uses as the only effective weapon against her madness. He is shown to handle firearms, as demonstrated when he carries out the plan to fake Caxton's death, but he is not a warrior in the same league as the other characters in the series.
