OVA
Description
Fabiola Iglesias is a young maid and bodyguard in the employ of the Lovelace family, serving as a subordinate and apprentice of sorts to the family’s fearsome head housemaid, Roberta. She is introduced in the Roberta’s Blood Trail arc as a supporting character who travels to the criminal city of Roanapur.

Background
Fabiola grew up in the poorest slums of Caracas, Venezuela, as one of eleven siblings. Her father held a small job, and her mother enforced a strict moral code, once beating Fabiola severely for stealing a CD player intended as a gift for her younger brother. With no access to formal education in the barrios, she learned capoeira by watching one of her siblings who attended a dojo, practicing and teaching herself the martial art. Through a distant relation who worked as a farmer for the prestigious Lovelace family, Fabiola was able to gain employment as a maid. She served diligently under the kind family head, Diego Jose San Fernando Lovelace, and worked under the guidance of Roberta while also attending to the young master, Garcia Lovelace.

Personality
Despite her formidable combat skills, Fabiola retains a generally childish and less severe personality compared to Roberta, which other characters sometimes tease her about. She speaks with respect, particularly toward Roberta whom she calls head housemaid, and shows unwavering loyalty to the Lovelace family. Unlike the colder and more broken demeanor of Roberta or the cynical aggression of Revy, Fabiola comes from a background where she felt the presence of love within her family, and this shapes her more humane outlook. She is notably reluctant to kill, often shaking with fear after taking a life, which serves as a clear indication that she is not a natural-born killer. This inner conflict is further demonstrated when she finds herself unable to execute a wounded enemy soldier and becomes enraged upon witnessing Revy do so mercilessly. Despite her combat role, she still shows youthful traits such as loving to swim but feeling too embarrassed to admit it or ask her master for free time to do so.

Motivations and Role in the Story
Following the assassination of the Lovelace family patriarch, Roberta leaves to hunt down the killers, descending into a violent rampage. Fabiola accompanies young Garcia Lovelace to Roanapur with the primary mission of tracking down and retrieving Roberta before she destroys herself. Her role in the story is to act as Garcia’s protector and right hand during this dangerous search, eventually seeking out Rock and the Lagoon Company for assistance.

Key Relationships
Fabiola has a deep respect for Roberta, viewing her as a mentor and the superior combatant between the two maids. She mimics some of Roberta’s mannerisms and carries weapons previously owned by her. Her relationship with Garcia Lovelace is one of devoted service and loyalty; she protects him with fierce determination and he regards her as a member of his family. She comes into direct conflict with both Revy and Rock, engaging in a tense confrontation with Revy over the morality of killing wounded foes, and later shooting Rock with a rubber bullet to express her anger over his manipulative plan that endangered Garcia’s life.

Development
Throughout the arc, Fabiola undergoes a significant trial by fire. She experiences her first kill in a violent confrontation at the Yellow Flag bar, and later participates in a bloody skirmish against Colombian military forces. Her experiences in Roanapur force her to confront the harsh line between her duty and her personal aversion to killing. Ultimately, she remains psychologically distinct from the hardened killers around her, as her reactions to violence emphasize her discomfort and moral hesitation rather than acceptance.

Notable Abilities
Fabiola is a highly skilled combatant, trained in the Brazilian martial art of capoeira, which she integrates seamlessly with her gunplay. She uses a pair of modified MAG-7 shotguns concealed within her sleeves, as well as a China Lake pump-action grenade launcher. She also possesses blades concealed within the heels of her shoes, which she uses effectively in close-quarters combat. Despite her short stature and youthful appearance, which often cause others to underestimate her, she is capable of single-handedly defeating armed gang members and holding her own in the firefights that erupt throughout Roanapur.
