Description
Kyoko Tohno, known to nearly everyone by her nickname Anko, is a determined and resourceful seventeen-year-old student at Magami Academy in Tokyo, where she serves as the editor-in-chief of the school's newspaper club. Born in Tokyo on February 27, she has held an ambition from a young age to become a famous star reporter, a dream that fuels her persistent and sometimes intrusive investigative methods. Her classmates, particularly Kyoichi, have been known to label her a stalker due to her relentless pursuit of a story, but this label does little to deter her curiosity.

Anko's role in the story begins with her as an outsider, keenly observant of the main characters Tatsuma and his group. Sensing that they are hiding something significant, she begins to tail them, determined to uncover the truth behind their mysterious activities. Her persistence pays off when she directly witnesses them using supernatural powers, an event that thrusts her from the role of observer into the heart of the conflict. Once she lands in the thick of things, she becomes a valued member of their team, though her contribution is usually not through direct combat. Instead, she leverages her greatest asset: her exceptional research skills. Anko has extensive knowledge of the incidents plaguing the city and becomes the group's primary source of information, providing crucial data that helps them understand and combat the threats they face.

Regarding her personal connections, Anko has been fond of Aoi Misato since their middle school days, and she also forms a close friendship with Komaki Sakurai. Her relationships evolve further as the story progresses. While not initially a focus, it is shown towards the end of the second season that she has developed a romantic crush on her classmate Kyoichi. This development adds a layer to her character, revealing a more personal and emotional side beneath her determined and often nosey exterior.

Her abilities are not supernatural but are grounded in persistence and intellect. Her most notable skill is her ability to gather and synthesize information, making her an invaluable asset to the team for investigative purposes. In a broader context, Anko is also noted to be a descendant of Kyouka Tohno, a journalist from the original Tokyo Majin Gakuen: Gehouchou video game, indicating a legacy of information gathering that runs in her family.
