TV-Series
Description
Nono Ichinose is a high school student and the president of the Drama Research Society at Kumataka Arts Academy. She has brown hair that reaches her neck and blue eyes. Her usual demeanor is calm and her facial expression rarely changes, giving her an unreadable and composed appearance. Beneath this placid surface, however, she possesses a fierce determination; when angered, she becomes highly intimidating and nearly unstoppable. Despite this intensity, she is fundamentally a kind and caring person who genuinely wants the best for her friends and clubmates.
Nono was originally a member of the school's Drama Society, but she left to form the smaller Drama Research Society alongside Takashi Katsuragi and Risaki Nishida because she still wished to pursue acting in a way that conflicted with the wishes of the Drama Club president, Mirei Sakaki. This decision created an outward rivalry between Nono and Mirei; whenever the two meet, they are sure to argue. Nono's motivation is deeply tied to her passion for performance and her desire to keep acting despite the constraints imposed by the larger Drama Club.
Her role in the story is pivotal. She is the one who discovers the shy first-year student Mugi Asai after hearing Mugi's unexpectedly powerful voice during a confrontation. Nono pressures Mugi into joining the Drama Research Society, setting the entire plot in motion. As club president, Nono takes charge of the group's activities, including the production of two plays that year, and she becomes a driving force in Mugi's gradual transformation from a timid girl into a more confident performer.
Key relationships include her friendship and collaboration with fellow club members Takashi and Risaki, her ongoing friction with Mirei Sakaki, and her mentorship of Mugi. Through her guidance and the challenges she sets, Nono helps Mugi grow, though Nono herself also develops over the course of the story by learning to trust others and to rely on her clubmates.
A notable aspect of Nono's character is a latent form of vocal cord paralysis. If she overexerts her voice too much, she risks losing it at a young age. This condition adds a layer of vulnerability to her otherwise strong-willed personality and influences how she approaches her own acting and the club's productions. Despite this, she remains dedicated to the craft and to the growth of her fellow members.
