Description
Honami Takase Ambler is a central character and a key member of the magical dispatch service Astral, where she serves as a specialist in Celtic magic and witchcraft. She is a young woman of high school age, recognizable by her chestnut, shoulder-length hair and ice-blue eyes, which are often framed by thin-edge glasses. For her magical assignments, she typically dons a pointed hat and a mantle over her school uniform, and carries a wand made of oak, sometimes traveling on an old broomstick.

Honami is a prodigy of significant renown. Celtic magic, an ancient tradition, was considered a nearly lost art that would take most skilled magicians decades to master. Through a combination of raw talent, intense determination, and assistance from a colleague named Fin Cruder, she managed to revive this art and achieve mastery in only two years. Her abilities are intrinsically tied to the phases of the moon; her magical power is at its peak during a full moon and at its lowest during a new moon. In combat or during jobs, she employs magic that incorporates mistletoe and herbs, and her enchanted broom requires fuel to operate.

Beyond her formal role, Honami acts unofficially as the president's secretary and as an educator in magical studies. The president in question is Itsuki Iba, who is also her childhood friend. She feels a profound sense of guilt over a past incident in which Itsuki's special ability, his Glam Sight, was tainted, an event she witnessed. Although she remembers their shared past, he does not. This history is a core part of her motivation for returning to Japan from a prestigious academy in England, where she was competing for the top position against a rival named Adilisia Lenn Mathers. She left this competition behind upon hearing that Itsuki had inherited Astral, choosing to support him immediately.

Her personality is complex and often expressed through her interactions with Itsuki. She cares for him deeply and harbors a romantic crush on him, which manifests in a predictably volatile manner. She is often the first to scold or physically strike him, especially when other girls show him any attention. Despite this, she works diligently for him, though she frequently acts as the one in charge, largely due to the company's persistent financial problems. She speaks with a Kansai dialect, which adds a distinct regional flavor to her speech.

Honami has several notable quirks and habits. She is somewhat technophobic, displaying a clear discomfort with computers and mobile phones. Her personal room is known to be perpetually messy. To supplement her income, she does fortune-telling and writes a magazine column as side jobs. She also possesses a sentient wand, which she keeps stored in a suitcase and affectionately refers to as ojichan.

As the story progresses, Honami's role remains firmly anchored as Itsuki's most trusted magical advisor and protector. She is consistently present to offer guidance on how to manage Astral and, more crucially, to save his life in dangerous situations. Her development is intertwined with her past guilt and her resolve to stay by Itsuki's side, mitigating the tragedy of their forgotten shared history. Her prodigious skill, combined with her fierce loyalty and her position as a bridge between Itsuki's present and troubled past, makes her an indispensable pillar of the Astral organization.
