Description
Chika Daimon is the younger sister of the protagonist, Masaru Daimon, in the anime Digimon Savers, known as Digimon Data Squad in some regions. She is a young girl, approximately ten years old at the start of the story, with short auburn hair typically styled into pigtails with yellow hair ties and green eyes. Her usual outfit consists of a pink shirt, a blue skirt, and red sandals.
Personality-wise, Chika is generally portrayed as a sweet, kind, and energetic girl. Despite her usual cheerful demeanor, she is not afraid to express annoyance or anger, particularly towards her older brother Masaru, whose reckless and crude behavior often embarrasses her. She possesses a strong-willed and somewhat stubborn side, especially when she believes she is right about something, and she has a tendency to want things to go her way. Chika is also very caring and nurturing, showing a natural affinity for looking after baby Digimon and a deep, protective love for her friends and family. Her motivations are largely driven by her desire to protect those she cares about and to maintain harmony among her loved ones, disliking conflict between people she is close to.
In the story, Chika serves as a significant supporting character whose emotional journey impacts the main cast. Her most pivotal role begins when she befriends a newly hatched Digimon, a Puwamon that soon evolves into Biyomon. This bond becomes central to several episodes, as Chika's love for Biyomon is deeply tested. When Biyomon is struck down and later revived, the trauma causes him to become berserk and violent, ultimately forcing the DATS team to defeat him. This traumatic event severely affects Chika, who only finds closure knowing her friend no longer has to suffer.
Her key relationships define her character arc. Her bond with her brother Masaru is a typical sibling dynamic, filled with teasing and arguments, but underlaid with deep mutual care. She is also immediately friendly with Masaru’s rival and friend, Touma, even wishing for him to escort her on her birthday. Her primary relationship is with her Digimon partner, Biyomon. After the incident where Biyomon is seemingly lost, her memories of Digimon are temporarily erased by the Confidentiality Ministry, though she later regains them. In the final arc, Biyomon returns to the Real World and, after a period of amnesia, risks his life to save her, remembering their bond and staying with her for the remainder of the series.
Throughout the series, Chika undergoes development through her experiences with loss and sacrifice. Her initial innocence about the Digital World is shattered when she witnesses her friend become a mindless threat, teaching her about the harsh realities of the conflict between humans and Digimon. However, her persistence and capacity for love are rewarded when she is reunited with Biyomon, showing her growth into a more resilient individual. By the series' end, she is seen attending middle school with her friend Keenan Crier, indicating a return to a normal life while retaining her connection to the Digital World.
Regarding notable abilities, Chika does not possess a Digivice like the main DATS agents and is not a field operative due to her age. However, she demonstrates a powerful emotional connection to Digimon. Her feelings are strong enough to trigger Biyomon's digivolution to the Perfect level, Garudamon, without the use of a device, a feat that highlights her latent potential and strong will.
