TV-Series
Description
Anise Azeat is a central character in the Galaxy Angel Rune series, known for her role as a pilot and a self-proclaimed treasure hunter. She is a red-haired, blue-eyed girl of sixteen years with a height of 160 cm and a B blood type, born on September 10th. Her background is steeped in the legacy of her family; she is the heir to the Azeat family, a once-distinguished line of treasure hunters on the planet Azeat. Her early life was marked by tragedy, as her parents, Garam and Masara, perished in a cave-in while she was an infant. Following this, she was raised by a family associate, Kelvin Crepe, who taught her to pilot and maintain the Emblem Frame known as the Relic Raider. At the age of eight, she was forced to leave her home, surviving on her own for the next eight years as a solitary treasure hunter. This harsh upbringing led her to engage in acts of piracy to make a living, though she attempted to conduct these activities with a sense of honor, clinging to her pride as a treasure hunter rather than a common criminal.

Personality-wise, Anise is defined by a tough, tomboyish demeanor that is a direct result of her rugged upbringing in a male-dominated environment. She is hasty, flippant, and has a quick temper, which often leads her to break property or quarrel with engineers. Her speech is direct and sometimes brash, and she is known for substituting incorrect words out of impatience. Despite her rough exterior, she possesses a surprising level of insight and intelligence, often seeing the big picture during briefings and cutting to the heart of a matter. Her hastiness is balanced by a hidden generosity and a strong sense of camaraderie; she is fiercely protective of her teammates and is often the first to speak out against unfairness or to help others. She is uncomfortable with praise and easily flustered by romance, having lost touch with her feminine side due to her years of independent survival. One of her most defining comedic traits is her deathly fear of Mint Blancmanche, to whom she owes a significant debt, and she loses her composure at the mere sound of Mint's voice.

Anise's primary motivation is initially financial freedom. She is introduced as an antagonist, attempting to steal from the military vessel Luxiole. After being defeated by pilot Kazuya Shiranami, she is forced to acquire a new ship on credit from the Blancmanche Conglomerate. Later hired to steal a powerful device called Brave Heart, she succeeds but is double-crossed, resulting in her new ship being destroyed. Unable to repay her loan, she is essentially press-ganged by Mint Blancmanche into serving as a temporary member of the Rune Angel Troupe to work off her debt. Her role in the story evolves from an unwilling debtor to a dedicated team member. She eventually earns her freedom by defending a Blancmanche department store ship but chooses to officially enlist as a Second Lieutenant, having grown attached to the Luxiole and its crew.

Her key relationships are central to her development. She shares a unique dynamic with Mint Blancmanche, who serves as both her creditor and a figure of authority she fears. She forms a strong rivalry and mutual respect with fellow pilots Ranpha and Forte, admiring their strength and capabilities. She becomes a mentor-like figure to the younger Nano-Nano Pudding, who calls her "boss" after Anise saves her life. The most significant relationship is with Kazuya Shiranami. Initially her opponent, he becomes her closest confidant and love interest. Their relationship is awkward and slow-burning; Anise is constantly teased by others that Kazuya is her "most valuable treasure," a claim she shyly never denies. In moments of vulnerability, she drops her tough act to reveal an anxious and soft-spoken side.

Throughout the narrative, Anise undergoes notable development. She transitions from a lone-wolf pirate concerned only with survival and profit to a loyal soldier who values her team above money. Her most significant growth is in her romantic life. Struggling with unfamiliar feelings for Kazuya, she initially panics and avoids him, thinking she is ill. After being advised that she is simply in love, she famously confesses her feelings not with words, but by kicking him in the back and kissing him, an act that embarrasses her immediately afterward. This emotional breakthrough proves pivotal, as the bond between them is strong enough to help artificially activate a critical device known as the Chrono Gate. She possesses notable abilities as a skilled pilot of the Relic Raider Emblem Frame. Beyond combat, she is an expert in lock picking and trap disarming, skills essential to her trade as a treasure hunter, and she demonstrates remarkable observational skills that allow her to notice fine details others miss.
