Description
Vaan operates as an explorer on a remote forested planet, sometimes identified as Valco. He possesses expertise in navigation and demonstrates deep familiarity with the planet's ecological and cultural systems. His background includes a connection to the master of the fugitive Jedi F, implying prior involvement with Jedi affairs or galactic events.
Encountering F, Vaan guides her to observe local customs, specifically the wedding rituals of villagers Haru and Asu. He explains the planet's significance as the homeworld of F's former master, detailing the villagers' profound spiritual connection to their environment, which they call "Magina" – their term for the Force. Vaan also recounts the planet's history of exploitation during the Clone Wars by the Separatists and their subsequent oppression by raiders who reprogrammed Separatist B1 battle droids.
At the village wedding feast, Vaan learns from villagers about the raiders' demands for collateral. The raiders sought to take the village chief, but his granddaughter Haru volunteered instead. Vaan expresses understanding of the village's grief and the burden Haru carries. He observes the rebellious spirit in Haru's sister Saku, noting its similarity to F's disposition.
When raiders arrive to claim Haru, Vaan assists F in confronting them. As raider leader Izuma attempts to execute Saku, Vaan provides sniper support from a cliffside. After expending his ammunition, he improvises by throwing his helmet—which contains an explosive device—destroying the raiders' starship. This action severs the control signal, disabling the battle droids. Following the raiders' defeat and F's departure, Vaan chooses to remain on the planet and integrate into the village community.
