Description
Itoko Osakabe is a supporting character who works as a physics teacher at Yagami High School. She is also the cousin and guardian of the protagonist, Kenji Harima, having taken him into her home after he left his family. Osakabe has a striking appearance with long blue or dark violet hair, black or gray eyes, and a mole near her mouth, which is considered one of her charms. Her physical stats include a height of 168 centimeters and blood type A.

In terms of personality, Osakabe typically presents herself as a calm, serious, and cool-headed professional, which makes her a popular and competent teacher. However, this exterior masks a more mischievous and teasing side, particularly in her interactions with Harima, where she enjoys setting traps to exploit his reactions regarding his love life. She is also revealed to be a heavy drinker with a wild side, having a reputation for drinking contests with her friend Yoko Sasakura and even recommending alcohol and cigarettes to her high school cousin.

Osakabe’s primary role in the story is closely tied to Harima. As his housemate, she is often the first to learn about his activities, including his feelings for Tenma Tsukamoto and his secret ambition to become a manga artist. She supports him financially and provides a place to live, though she does demand rent which he frequently fails to pay. Her motivations stem from a deep-seated care for Harima’s well-being, pushing him to grow up while subtly guiding his goals. Despite her teasing, she is one of the few characters who can control Harima and recognizes his loyal and soft-hearted nature.

Osakabe’s most significant relationship is with her cousin, Kenji Harima. While they are not initially close, she takes on a guardian role, and their dynamic evolves as she becomes a trusted adult figure he relies on. She also shares a strong bond with Yoko Sasakura, the art teacher, who is her best friend and has known her since their school days. This friendship reveals another layer of Osakabe, as Sasakura knows her past and can make her act uncharacteristically flustered. Among the students, she is admired for her beauty, and the boys of class 2-C consider her the hottest teacher in school.

Osakabe shows development primarily in her relationship with Harima, where her cool exterior gradually reveals more genuine, though understated, affection for him and a pride in his growth. A notable ability is her expert marksmanship with an air gun, a weapon she carries frequently. Her skill is such that she is referred to as a "mountain cat" and a "flower of the battlefield" in a school survival episode.
