Description
Otome Kurogane is a third-year student at the school in the anime Tsuyokiss - Cool×Sweet, where she serves as the vice president of the student council and the head of the discipline committee. She is also the captain of the martial arts club, a position that reflects her standing as one of the school's strongest fighters. Around the school she carries the Japanese sword Jigoku Chōchō, a symbolic weapon handed down through the discipline committee, and she uses it while patrolling for rule-breakers. Her strict enforcement of school rules, combined with a powerful kick that can send offenders flying several meters, has earned her the reputation of being the iron discipline committee member, and many students fear her.

In the story, she is the older cousin of the protagonist Leo Tsushima. The two were close in childhood, and she was like an older sister to him, but they had drifted apart over the years. At the request of Leo's parents, who are abroad on work, she moves into his household in order to discipline him and rebuild his resolve. She approaches this duty with a nurturing but stern attitude, constantly scolding him and trying to correct his lazy habits.

Her personality is earnest, serious, and deeply honest; she dislikes lying and is straightforward to the point of being easily deceived, because she tends to believe what others tell her. Her sense of discipline is matched by a strong belief in effort and hard work, and she has little tolerance for weakness, often using the scolding phrase "Konjō nashi ga" (you have no guts). Despite her intimidating image, she has a big-sisterly, caring side and is well regarded for looking after others. She is also stubborn and inflexible, and she becomes annoyed when younger people try to take control of a situation. She keeps her grades high through daily effort, though she is not skilled at clever scheming. Her weaknesses include a poor aptitude for machines, to the point that she cannot even operate a video recorder, and a fear of thunder stemming from a childhood incident involving her grandfather. Her favorite food is rice balls, which is also the only dish she can cook.

Her motivations are rooted in a strong sense of duty: she takes seriously her responsibility to maintain order at school and to honor the request made by Leo's parents. These obligations define much of her role in the story, where she acts as both an enforcer of school rules and a guiding force in Leo's life.

In terms of key relationships, she shares a close but complicated bond with Leo, whom she treats as a younger brother in need of correction; the story also hints at a significant promise the two made in childhood. She is one of the few people whose authority the student council president, Erika Kiriya, cannot defy. In the anime, she also protects the transfer student Sunao Konoe when Sunao is harassed by delinquents, showing her protective nature toward others. The school director Heizou Tachibana is the figure who entrusted her with the discipline committee's sword.

As the story progresses, her relationship with Leo deepens beyond the dynamic of older cousin and younger cousin. In the later part of the anime, she openly confesses her feelings for him, revealing a warmer and more vulnerable side beneath her stern exterior. This admission becomes an important turning point in the story and highlights the personal development she undergoes from a purely duty-bound enforcer into someone who openly acknowledges her own emotions.
