TV-Series
Description
JC, whose full name is Jeremy Charles Ferhlan, is a significant supporting character who appears as a mysterious and stoic partner to the enigmatic woman Lula. He is a gray-haired man with blue eyes, usually dressed in a suit and tie, presenting a calm and composed appearance. His outward demeanor is that of an individual who speaks very little, to the point that he can almost seem as if he has no discernible personality. Despite this reserved exterior, he is deeply supportive of Lula's actions while simultaneously possessing a strong sense of empathy, particularly towards the four girls at the center of the story.

JC acts as an agent for the organization known as Animus, working in the shadows of New York City. He and Lula are responsible for managing a group of four young women who have been reanimated in artificial bodies after their untimely deaths. His primary role is to assist Lula in monitoring, guiding, and providing support to these girls, who are forced to fight against monstrous beings known as the Delore every night to maintain their borrowed existence. He is present during the crucial revelation to the protagonists, informing them of their deceased status and their obligation to fight. JC's role is not that of a direct combatant in the nightly battles, as that duty falls to the resurrected girls, but he serves as a logistical and emotional anchor for the operation.

The most defining element of JC's character is his profound and unexplained connection to his partner, Lula. The pair are inseparable, moving and acting in complete synchronicity, and their bond is of a nature so deep that it borders on ambiguity, often interpreted as being beyond that of simple colleagues or even siblings. Throughout the story, he is a steady, unflinching presence by her side. It is only later revealed that the two are actually siblings, a fact that becomes tragically clear during the climax of his personal arc. His ultimate motivation is rooted in his loyalty to Lula and his quiet compassion for the girls, as he demonstrates a genuine understanding of their suffering and is known to have a specific fondness for one of them, Claire.

JC's position in the narrative takes a dramatic turn during a confrontation with Herve, a primary antagonist. In a moment of heroic sacrifice, JC steps in to protect Lula from a fatal attack and is killed himself. This event marks the peak of his character development, as his death serves as the catalyst that reveals the true depth of his relationship with Lula. As he dies in her arms, the stoic facade crumbles, confirming that they are brother and sister and leaving Lula devastated by his loss. His death is a pivotal moment in the series, removing a key stabilizing force from Lula's life and underscoring the high personal stakes of their conflict. While JC is not a frontline fighter, he possesses a notable ability to hold his own in dangerous situations, a fact that led some to question how he could fight effectively given that only women are typically transformed into Animus agents. However, it is also clarified that despite working for the supernatural Animus organization, JC is a living human being, which makes his willingness to face deadly threats even more courageous. In the manga adaptation of the story, his fate diverges from the anime, as he survives the encounter with Herve.
