Description
Lola is a supporting character in the anime and manga series Venus Versus Virus. She is a mysterious young girl with long blonde hair and purple eyes, who lives with the main characters Lucia Nahashi and her guardian, Nahashi. In the English version of the anime, her name is rendered as Laura. Lola is revealed to be a magical, soulless doll created by Lucif, Lucia’s father, and Nahashi’s teacher. She was constructed for the purpose of observing the impending conflict between the Venus Vanguard and the Viruses, the demonic entities the group hunts. Despite lacking a soul, Lola displays very human-like emotions, giving her a cheerful and somewhat enigmatic demeanor. She has a strong fondness for chocolate and is almost always seen eating it, often carrying a box of pocky or other sweets. This sweet tooth is one of her most consistent traits and occasionally influences her actions.

Lola has a twin sister named Layla, who serves as one of the antagonists in the series. While Lola is generally friendly and cooperative with the Venus Vanguard, Layla is more emotionless and aligned with opposing forces. The two sisters do not age, as they are artificial beings. Lola’s role in the story is primarily as a resident of the Nahashi household and a non-combatant member of the Venus Vanguard. She does not possess any special offensive abilities in the traditional sense, and she relies on her wits and occasionally improvises weapons from chocolate when provoked. For example, in one encounter, she fights using chocolate-based weapons after her box of pocky is broken. However, she is not depicted as a frontline fighter and serves more as an observer and companion to Lucia and Sumire, the other protagonist. Over the course of the series, Lola’s steadfast presence and innocent curiosity provide a contrast to the darker themes of the story, though she undergoes little personal development herself. Her key relationships include her twin Layla, who embodies the opposite side of their shared origin, and her housemates Lucia and Nahashi, with whom she lives and shares a familial bond.
