Wormmon is a larval Insect Digimon and partner to Ken Ichijouji. His evolutionary line includes Fresh-level Leafmon and In-Training-level Minomon. He first partnered with Ken during Ken's childhood journey to the Digital World via his brother's computer. Alongside Ryo Akiyama, they battled and defeated Millenniummon, an event releasing Dark Spores. One spore embedded in Ken's neck, influencing his later actions. Throughout Ken's subsequent phase as the Digimon Emperor, Wormmon remained loyally at his side despite enduring mistreatment. While often serving comedic relief during this period, he demonstrated his dedication by leading Davis and Veemon to the Digi-Egg of Miracles during Kimeramon's rampage. When Ken refused to relent and Magnamon faced defeat, Wormmon sacrificed his life force to empower Magnamon, enabling Kimeramon's defeat and ultimately prompting Ken's recognition of his wrongdoing. Reborn from a Digi-Egg in Primary Village, Wormmon reunited with Ken, who vowed to rectify the damage he caused. Ken discovered Arukenimon had manipulated him into building Control Spires. To combat threats from these spires, Wormmon gained the ability to digivolve into his Champion form, Stingmon. Stingmon possesses a calm demeanor and fighting strength surpassing other partner Digimon's Armor-level forms, rivaling their Champion levels. He spearheaded battles, destroying an artificial Snimon solo and helping defeat Golemon alongside Aquilamon. Wormmon and Ken formally joined the DigiDestined team when Stingmon DNA digivolved with ExVeemon to form Paildramon. Empowered by Azulongmon, Paildramon could further digivolve into Imperialdramon Dragon Mode, with subsequent forms including Imperialdramon Fighter Mode and Imperialdramon Paladin Mode. Wormmon holds unique traits among protagonist Digimon: he is the only Virus attribute and was the first Virus-type partner Digimon featured in the anime. He sporadically achieved Champion-level digivolution despite Control Spires, though occasionally affected like others. Unlike other new partner Digimon, he could enter the human world without reverting to his In-Training form. Later, as depicted in *Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning* set in February 2012 after *Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna*, Ken is a college sophomore studying for the police exam, with Wormmon as his constant companion. Their bond is deeply devoted, with Wormmon credited as a key influence in Ken's growth into a kind young man; Wormmon takes pride in Ken's development. They continue shared activities like reading together on campus. Wormmon's signature attack, Nebaneba Net (Sticky Net), immobilizes opponents with adhesive threads. His other techniques include Silk Thread, firing thin, needle-sharp threads. Beyond his primary path, Wormmon undergoes Armor Digivolution using various Digi-Eggs, resulting in forms like Bucchiemon (Kindness), Shadramon (Courage), and Quetzalmon (Light). Other Armor forms noted in virtual pets include Togemogumon (Friendship), Owlmon (Love), Searchmon (Knowledge), Nohemon (Purity), Archelomon (Sincerity), Bullmon (Hope), and Kongoumon (Miracles). Alternative Champion-level evolutions include Kuwagamon, Kabuterimon, and Devimon. Game media depict potential Ultimate-level evolutions like Dinobeemon and GranKuwagamon, and Mega-level evolutions like BanchoStingmon. Wormmon appears across media, including the films *Revenge of Diaboromon*, *Last Evolution Kizuna*, and *The Beginning*, and video games like *Digimon Adventure 02: Tag Tamers*, *Digimon Digital Card Battle*, and *Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer*. In *Digimon Digital Card Battle*, he serves as a recurring antagonist, taking over Battle Arenas and battling the player across multiple evolved forms. His narrative consistently emphasizes loyalty, sacrifice, and the redemptive bond with Ken.
