Description
Joel Goldschmidt the Sixth is the current head of the Goldschmidt family and the leader of the Red Shield organization in the early 21st century. The name Joel Goldschmidt is a hereditary title passed down through generations; the first Joel was a wealthy researcher who discovered the mysterious mummy from which the queens Saya and Diva were born. To inherit this name is to inherit not only the family's vast wealth and property but also its mission and the burden of its history, as each bearer is compelled to continue the fight against the chiropterans to atone for the original Joel's actions. Central to this inherited duty is Joel's Diary, a crucial record first kept by the first Joel that contains generations of accumulated research on Saya, Diva, and their kind.

As a young man in his late twenties or early thirties, Joel the Sixth primarily operates as a strategist and supporter from behind the scenes, trusting field operatives like David to handle day-to-day missions while providing them with resources and guidance. His personality is notably cheerful and positive. When asked if he regrets inheriting a name that carries such a heavy and bloody legacy, he maintains an optimistic outlook, choosing to focus on the brighter side of his duty. This pleasant and generous nature defines his leadership style, making him a supportive rather than authoritarian figurehead.

Joel's primary motivation is to fulfill the generational obligation of the Goldschmidt family: to rectify the mistakes of his ancestor by protecting Saya and ultimately defeating Diva, thereby ending the chiropteran threat. He carries the weight of this mission not with grim resolve but with a sense of purpose. His role in the main story is largely that of a high-level commander. He is the one who deploys Red Shield operatives and makes critical strategic decisions from the organization's headquarters.

Throughout the series, Joel maintains key relationships with the main cast. He works closely with David, his most trusted agent, and oversees the support given to Saya and her companion Hagi. A significant part of his character development involves his physical injury. In the latter half of the story, he is crippled from the waist down after being struck by a stake fired by the chiropteran Calpeion. Despite this debilitating injury, he does not retire from his post. Confined to a wheelchair, he continues to actively support the cause, providing crucial aid such as delivering a new bullet igniter to the fighter Kai Miyagusuku. His resilience in the face of personal tragedy underscores his dedication to the mission.

Following the main conflict, Joel's focus shifts to the future. He makes the decision to rebuild the Red Shield, which had been severely damaged by the events of the war against Diva. Furthermore, in his role as a father, he has a son named David, who is positioned to become the seventh Joel Goldschmidt and the next head of the Red Shield, ensuring the family's legacy and mission will continue.

Joel Goldschmidt the Sixth does not possess any supernatural or combat-oriented abilities like the chiropterans. His strengths are entirely human and stem from his inherited position. His notable abilities include his vast financial and political resources as the head of the powerful Goldschmidt family, his strategic mind for coordinating a global secret organization, and his access to the accumulated knowledge within Joel's Diary. His power lies in his command of information, his capacity to provide logistical support, and his unbroken will to lead the fight from the front lines of command, even after being physically broken.
