Description
Koruri is a young boy who resides in the Country of Birdcages, a realm where each person is bonded with a companion bird. Under the oppressive rule of the king, many citizens have had their birds taken away, and Koruri is among those who have lost his own bird. He lives in hiding along with the rightful princess, Tomoyo, and other displaced people. When the travelers Syaoran, Sakura, and Mokona arrive in the country, Koruri mistakes them for the king’s bodyguards and attacks them, revealing his cautious and defensive nature born from a life of fear and mistrust. Once the misunderstanding is cleared, he becomes a key guide, leading the group to Princess Tomoyo and explaining the kingdom’s plight. His central motivation is to free his country from the king’s tyranny and restore the lost connection between the people and their birds. Koruri is fiercely loyal to Princess Tomoyo and participates bravely in the mission to rescue her after she is kidnapped by the king. He joins Syaoran, Sakura, and Tomoyo’s commander in infiltrating the king’s castle, showing his willingness to risk danger for the cause. His relationships are built on trust with Tomoyo and later with the visiting group, especially Syaoran and Sakura, after he overcomes his initial suspicion. Over the course of the film, Koruri progresses from a defensive, oppressed citizen to an active and cooperative member of the resistance. He does not possess any special magical or combat abilities; his strength lies in his knowledge of the land and his steadfast determination. Koruri has brown hair and brown eyes, and his modest, resilient spirit embodies the struggle of the kingdom’s people.
