Description
Himawari Hinata is the central protagonist of the anime Himawari Too!!, a continuation of her story from the first season, Himawari!. She is a young girl who arrives in the rural, mist-shrouded town of Kasumi Kogen, also known as the Village of Mist, to enroll at Shinobi Gakuen, a secret academy dedicated to training kunoichi, or female ninjas. Her driving motivation to become a ninja stems from a pivotal childhood event where she was rescued from danger by a mysterious shinobi. This experience ignited a lifelong dream within her to follow in her savior’s footsteps.

Himawari is characterized by an energetic, cheerful, and remarkably persistent spirit. Despite her enthusiasm, she initially lacks the refined skills of her peers and often finds herself in comical mishaps, which can make her seem unrefined or even annoying to her classmates. However, her optimism and unwavering determination drive her to overcome every obstacle. Her first day at the academy is marked by a dramatic and clumsy entrance via a malfunctioning kite, from which she is saved by a new teacher named Hayato Marikoji. Himawari immediately notices that Hayato bears the same distinctive mark on his neck as the ninja who rescued her years ago. Though Hayato possesses no ninja abilities and is only teaching to pay off a substantial debt, Himawari, out of deep respect and a sense of profound connection, vows to protect him at all costs, addressing him with the honorific "dono".

Her primary role in the story is as the heart of the series, driving the narrative through her quest to become a skilled kunoichi while unraveling the mystery of Hayato's connection to her past. Her personal journey of growth is central, as she transforms from a clumsy novice into a more capable student through sheer perseverance, facing both rigorous training and real combat situations. Her relationships with others are key to her development. She forms close bonds with her fellow students, including the rival-turned-friend Azami, the serious and strategic Shikimi, and the animal-loving Yusura, forming a supportive circle that faces threats together, especially in the second season when the academy comes under attack by mysterious enemies. Her relationship with Hayato deepens beyond a typical student-teacher dynamic, fueled by her protective instincts and the mystery surrounding his past, making her personal vow a core part of the plot.

In terms of abilities, Himawari starts off with more enthusiasm than talent. She is known to use unorthodox methods, sometimes based on ninja techniques she has seen on television, leading to initial struggles with fundamental ninja practices. However, throughout the series, her abilities grow significantly. She becomes more adept in combat, utilizing traditional ninja tools such as shuriken and a bow. Her greatest assets are her exceptional stamina, remarkable resilience, and refusal to give up, which often see her through challenges that pure skill cannot overcome. Through many trials, her character evolves from a girl simply chasing a childhood dream into a determined young woman fighting to protect those she loves and uncover the secrets of her own past.
