TV-Series
Description
Natsuko Kawaguchi is the only sister of the Machine Gun Brothers, a trio of mercenaries named Fuyuo, Akio, and Haruo, and she is a childhood neighbor and friend of Kanta Mizuno, known as Desert Punk. She is an eighteen-year-old young woman with short hair, brown eyes, and fair skin. Her name means summer, and her brothers are named after the other three seasons.
Natsuko grew up in the same neighborhood as Kanta and the Machine Gun Brothers, and according to Kanta, she was a crybaby as a child. At some point, she left her childhood life behind to join the West Oasis Government, where she underwent rigorous training and became a soldier. She serves as a sergeant in the anti-government faction of the West Oasis Government, also known as the reverse handyman guild, and later rises to the rank of captain. Her work for the government caused her to lose contact with her brothers and Kanta for a long time.
Natsuko is a serious and dutiful individual who upholds a strict code of conduct and a strong sense of responsibility. She is pragmatic and efficient, often prioritizing order and protocol in her actions. This dedication to her role makes her appear critical and impersonal at times, but it also reflects her commitment to the welfare of the faction she serves. She is a proficient hand-to-hand combatant, having undergone extensive training to earn her position.
In the story, Natsuko plays a supporting role that connects the government faction with the freelance mercenaries of the desert. She crosses paths with Desert Punk and her brothers when she hires them to protect a tank transporting human waste, a mission that serves as a reunion of sorts. Her presence often brings out a more protective and responsible side in her brothers, who remain fiercely loyal to her. She also becomes an idol to Kosuna, Desert Punk's young apprentice, who admires her competence and demeanor.
Natsuko's character shows little overt change over the course of the series, but her reintegration into the lives of her brothers and her childhood friend highlights her ability to balance her official duties with personal connections. Her key abilities include skilled hand-to-hand combat, leadership within the government's military structure, and the tactical knowledge required to operate in the harsh desert environment.
