She is affiliated with the talent management firm Aoni Production and has been active in the entertainment industry since 1980. Minaguchi is widely recognized for her sweet and gentle vocal quality, a trait that has often led to her being cast in roles that are pure, dreamy, or maternal in nature.

Minaguchi began her voice acting career in the mid-1980s. Her early work included the role of Princess Apricot in Bosco Adventure in 1986. She gained significant recognition and her first leading role in 1989 when she voiced the title character, Yawara Inokuma, in the judo-themed series Yawara! A Fashionable Judo Girl. This role helped establish her as a prominent voice actor. In the 1990s, she landed some of her most iconic parts, including a dual role as Videl and later Pan, the daughter and granddaughter of the series' protagonist, in the global phenomenon Dragon Ball Z. She also voiced the complex and beloved character Hotaru Tomoe, also known as Sailor Saturn, in Sailor Moon S and Sailor Moon Sailor Stars. Her range during this period extended to gentle spirits like Nadeshiko Kinomoto, the deceased mother of the title character in Cardcaptor Sakura, and maternal figures like Akiko Minase in Kanon.

In 2012, Minaguchi took a hiatus from her voice acting career to study abroad in the United States for approximately nineteen months. During this break, her role as Videl in Dragon Ball Z Kai was temporarily filled by another actress. However, upon her return to Japan in 2014, she quickly resumed her career and took back the part for subsequent Dragon Ball films and the television series Dragon Ball Super. In addition to her extensive anime work, Minaguchi has also contributed her voice to numerous video games. She is known globally for providing the voice of Momiji in the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series. Her other notable game roles include Farah Oersted in Tales of Eternia, Nene Anegasaki in the Loveplus series, and Klose Rinz in The Legend of Heroes series. Her ability to portray a wide range of characters, from action-oriented fighters to warm, nurturing figures, has solidified her reputation as a versatile and enduring talent in the Japanese voice acting industry.
