Description
Fuyuo Kawaguchi is the eldest of the Kawaguchi siblings, a group of mercenaries operating in the Great Kanto Desert. He is a young man of twenty years, distinguished by his tall and muscular stature. His face bears two prominent scars: one horizontal mark below his eyes that stretches across his nose, and a vertical scar on his left temple. His typical attire consists of a light brown desert poncho and a white mask, and unlike his younger brothers, he is almost never seen wearing the sunshade of the West Oasis Handyman Guild. Fuyuo is heavily armed, preferring to carry a modified M2 Browning.50 caliber machine gun as his primary weapon.
Growing up in Water Station 30, Fuyuo and his siblings shared a childhood with Kanta Mizuno, the protagonist who would later become known as Desert Punk. During these early years, Kanta led Fuyuo and his brothers into various misdeeds, including theft and bullying other children. This history took a dark turn when Kanta made an attempt to assault their sister, Natsuko. Upon discovering this, Fuyuo, along with his brothers Akio and Haruo, beat Kanta severely, creating a deep-seated animosity between them that lasted into adulthood.
As the oldest brother, Fuyuo is extremely protective of his siblings, particularly his younger sister Natsuko, and he often serves as the leader of the Machine Gun Brothers, giving orders to his two younger brothers, Akio and Haruo. He and his brothers work as handymen, typically sticking to straightforward mercenary work and using their proficiency with heavy firearms. Fuyuo maintains a complex relationship with Kanta, marked by a strange mixture of respect for his bravery and hatred for his reckless foolishness. This leads to an uneasy partnership when their goals align, which occurs during the search for Natsuko after she goes missing.
In his search for his missing sister, Fuyuo encounters Kanta once more, and they are forced to cooperate. During this mission, he demonstrates his formidable combat abilities, using his heavy machine gun to fire upon enemy soldiers and cyborgs in the underground ruins where Natsuko was last seen. After successfully rescuing his sister, Fuyuo is welcomed into the anti-government faction that Natsuko secretly works for, though this was a development she had hoped to avoid for her brothers. His loyalty to his family is absolute, as shown when Kanta later reveals he has switched sides to a new enemy. When Kanta's robot soldiers disarm him, Fuyuo declares his intention to fight alongside his sister to the very end.
