Kazuya Hikizuri, the eldest son in the Hikizuri family of six siblings—Kazuya, Kinako, Shigorō, Narumi, Hitoshi, and Misako—assumes the role of primary authority after their parents' death. Though substantial inherited wealth eliminates any financial need for employment, Kazuya performs a daily ritual of leaving home for work. This charade projects an image of responsibility and stability for his younger siblings, masking his actual idleness, a state he justifies by citing the family's ample resources.
His interactions reveal a controlling nature and preoccupation with his position. He exhibits irritation during family meals, sharply chastising Shigorō for eating too loudly, deeming the behavior unpleasant. This reflects underlying tensions among the siblings. The youngest sister, Misako, displays intense grief through violent outbursts, primarily targeting Hitoshi and causing physical injuries. Kazuya and the older siblings largely avoid intervening, leaving Hitoshi to manage Misako's aggression alone.
Kazuya's interest in spirit photographer Sachiyo leads him to invite her to their reputedly haunted mansion, ostensibly for her photography but also driven by personal attraction. He later arranges a séance, primarily for the younger siblings, to contact their deceased parents. During this event, Shigorō feigns possession by their father's spirit, even producing fake ectoplasm later exposed as udon flour. This deception stems from Shigorō's jealousy and desire to usurp Kazuya's authority. Kazuya regains his dominant position by exposing the fraud.
However, the séance triggers genuine supernatural consequences. The actual spirit of the Hikizuri patriarch manifests, pursuing the siblings and forcing them to flee their home, abruptly concluding their established, dysfunctional family dynamic centered within the mansion.
Physically, Kazuya is a 19-year-old male with black hair and black eyes. His character embodies themes of inherited trauma, performative responsibility masking idleness, and the destabilizing consequences of unresolved familial grief and power struggles following parental loss.
