Description
Lord Yao is a giant boar-like demon who serves as the main antagonist of the Dragon Ball GT television special A Hero's Legacy. He is also referred to as the Demon King or Lord Yao due to his status as the king of Mount Paozu and a demon lord. Physically, he is a hulking, purple-furred anthropomorphic creature. His personality is that of a proud and cruel tyrant who considers himself the supreme ruler of the mountain and views others, especially children, as insignificant. He declares himself lord of the demons and his primary motivation is to assert his dominance over the area and eliminate anyone he perceives as a threat or an intruder. He has no hesitation in using lethal force against both humans and animals alike.
In the story, Lord Yao appears near the climax of the special. He arrives on the scene while a group of bandits, led by Mamba, are chasing Goku Junior, the young descendant of the original Goku. Lord Yao immediately attacks the group, firing a cannonball-like projectile at the boy. He then unleashes a powerful snout blast. A brown bear, whose cub Goku Junior had earlier helped, intervenes to defend the boy. Lord Yao captures the bear, transforming one hand into a root that wraps around the bear's neck and choking it, while his other hand turns into a blade. Before he can kill the bear, Goku Junior is enraged and transforms into a Super Saiyan for the first time. In this new form, the young boy easily overpowers Lord Yao and sends him flying into a wall of rock. Lord Yao is last seen unconscious under the rubble of that collision, and his ultimate fate remains unknown.
Lord Yao has a limited but significant relationship with his opponents. He has no direct relationship with the characters before their encounter, viewing them only as obstacles. The bear is his victim, and Goku Junior is his conqueror. Lord Yao acts as the final physical challenge that Goku Junior must overcome, providing the catalyst for his transformation into a Super Saiyan.
