TV Special
Description
Gettō, also known as Susha, is a minor antagonist who appears in the 1997 television special Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy. He is a reptilian or amphibian-like monster, often described as a yōkai, who dwells in the wilderness alongside his companions. His appearance is marked by distinct clothing, including a gray flannel shirt with black trim, white pants secured with a green knot, a pair of hunter's boots, and red wristbands. He notably carries two swords, which are attached to his person by red ribbons and a piece of red paper.
Gettō is a predatory creature who, along with his fellow monsters Mamba and Torga, seeks to hunt and eat other beings. The trio operates under the authority of a more powerful entity, Lord Yamao (or Lord Yao), who acts as their leader. In the story, Gettō and his group encounter the young protagonist, Son Goku Jr., and his companion, Puck. Using deceptive tactics, the monsters lure the pair to a mysterious house that is actually filled with traps, intending to consume them.
Gettō's role is that of a physical threat and an obstacle for Goku Jr. on his journey. His personality, as demonstrated in the special, is that of a cunning predator who is nonetheless cowardly when faced with a superior force. When he attempts to swallow Goku Jr. whole, the young Saiyan powers up, releasing a burst of energy that sends Gettō flying high into the air. This moment highlights that while Gettō is a dangerous foe to ordinary beings, he is no match for the latent power of a Saiyan.
His primary relationship is with his fellow hunters, Mamba, a witch who often takes the lead in their schemes, and Torga, a chicken-like warrior. Together, they form a small but threatening pack in the forest. The three are firmly subordinate to Lord Yamao, and their actions are carried out under his dominion.
Throughout the special, Gettō does not undergo any significant character development or redemption. He remains a static, villainous figure whose sole purpose is to serve as a minor menace. His ultimate fate is to flee in terror alongside Mamba and Torga after witnessing Goku Jr. transform into a Super Saiyan and effortlessly defeat the powerful Lord Yamao.
In terms of abilities, Gettō is shown to be physically strong enough to pose a threat to a child and is capable of attempting to swallow a person whole. He is also armed with two swords, suggesting some skill in combat, though these weapons are never shown to be used effectively against the protagonist. Ultimately, his power proves to be negligible compared to the superhuman strength and energy of even a newly transformed Super Saiyan.
