Shin Aomori is a Japanese actor, voice actor, and narrator born on October 20, 1941, in Aomori Prefecture. His real name is Kazuo Ichinohe, and his stage name is a tribute to his birthplace. He began his entertainment career in the 1960s, with early experience in theater companies including the Mirai Theatre Company and the NHK Hirosaki Broadcasting Theatre Company. After completing his studies at the Tokyo Announce Academy, he transitioned into voice acting and has remained active in the industry for decades. Throughout his career, he has been affiliated with several talent agencies, including the Tokyo Actor's Consumer's Cooperative Society and Sigma Seven, and he is currently represented by Aoni Production.

Aomori is known for his distinctive, deep, and sometimes grim voice, which has made him a popular choice for a wide range of character types, from villains and authority figures to wise mentors. In anime, he has built an extensive filmography that spans many years. He voiced Inugami in the 1993-1994 television series Heisei Inu Monogatari Bow. He also took on the role of Kurokawa in Meisō-Ō Border. His repertoire includes Hachirō Kariage in Okawari-Boy Starzan S and the character Ig the Iguana in The Animal Conference on the Environment. Another of his notable roles is the Raijin Stable Master in the 2014 series Rowdy Sumo Wrestler Matsutaro!!.

He is well-regarded for his role as the Supreme Kai attendant Kibito in the Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Kai series, as well as voicing the dragon Qi Xing Lóng in Dragon Ball GT and Don Chinjao in One Piece. He has contributed to the Gundam franchise, playing Fixx Bloodman in After War Gundam X and Yuri Hasler in the Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory OVA. His other anime credits include roles in Fullmetal Alchemist as Basque Grand, Samurai Champloo as Kogorō, and multiple guest roles in the long-running detective series Case Closed, also known as Detective Conan.

Beyond anime, Shin Aomori has an extensive career in dubbing foreign films and television series into Japanese. He is most famously the regular Japanese voice of actor Kevin McNally's character Joshamee Gibbs in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. He has also dubbed numerous other high-profile roles, including Emperor Palpatine / Darth Sidious in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Dr. David Marrow in The Haunting, and Sir Michael Crosby in Tenet. In animation dubbing, he is known as the voice of Doctor Drakken in Kim Possible and Principal Skinner in The Simpsons.

His work also extends to tokusatsu, where he provided narration for Kaiketsu Zubat and voiced numerous monster characters in series like Android Kikaider, Himitsu Sentai Goranger, and Spider-Man, continuing into the 2020s with a role in Kamen Rider Revice. He has also voiced characters in video games such as the Dragon Ball series, Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil, and Persona 3 Reload. While public records of formal awards are not prominent, his long-standing career and continued demand across various media, including recent roles like Gonjii in the 2024 series Oi!
