Description
Midguard, also referred to as Meam Midgard, is a supporting character in the Turn A Gundam universe who appears in the television series and its compilation film Turn A Gundam II: Moonlight Butterfly. He serves as the secretary to Agrippa Maintainer, one of the three leaders of the Moonrace. Midguard is defined by his intense fear of the Turn-type mobile suits, particularly the Turn A Gundam and Turn X, which he knows from the Dark History as weapons capable of erasing human civilization. This dread colors his actions and attitudes throughout the conflict between Earth and the Moon. During the events of the second film, he accompanies the advancing Ghingnham Fleet, acting as a spy even as he despises himself for the role he plays. His motivations stem from a sense of duty or obligation to the political powers on the Moon rather than personal ambition or conviction. Midguard’s relationships are primarily professional; he is subordinate to Agrippa Maintainer and interacts with other Moonrace military figures such as Gym Ghingnham. He does not undergo significant personal development, remaining a minor figure who reflects the fear and unease that the old weapons of the Dark History inspire among those who understand their power. He possesses no notable combat abilities or unique skills beyond his administrative role. Midguard’s narrative function is to illustrate the lingering trauma of past technological horrors and the moral compromises that ordinary people make when caught in larger political machinations.
